I have a new 2023 Mach E that I bought a few months ago. Ever since I've had it it'll do a courtesy swipe without me doing anything and it'll be a day without any rain. I've checked the settings and I think if I remember right theirs a setting for that and I've unchecked that. It's getting to be very annoying because it does it every day. Seems like I get going and maybe 15 to 20 minutes later it'll do a swipe. If it's a long ride it may do it several times and I'm not touching anything but the steering wheel. It's done it while I'm waiting at a traffic light and my hands are not on the steering wheel at all. Before I ask the dealer about this I thought I'd see if I'm missing something or if somebody else has had this happen.

I think the fix is to turn off automatic wipers. Mine used to do this all the time until I turned the wipers full off.

Normal for sensor calibration purposes. It does that if it’s not sure it’s seeing rain or interference from the sun. If there’s no change after the wipe then it reduces sensitivity.

If you don’t like this, then fully turn off the wipers. It has nothing to do with the courtesy wipe setting.

It is NOT a courtesy wipe. It is a random wipe. The way to fix that is to move the wiper selector down to the bottom position, which is Off. You're one notch above that, which is automatic.

As Mach-Lee noted, it's normal. Turn it off if it annoys you. I find it comes on when it's dusty (i.e. pollen).

Hmmmm. I do have mine on automatic wipers. Their must some kind of bug in the sensor. I had a Ford Explorer and used this all the time and never had a problem with it.

Yeah too much dirt or pollen on the sensor can trigger it too.

Mine is already at the bottom position.

Push it down to be sure. Won’t wipe if it’s fully down.
Just to be clear are you talking about the wiper stalk itself?

both of my mach es did the occasional swipe. Easiest solution is to move the stalk off automatic, as Rick suggested. When it starts to rain I put click it up to auto mode.
