I really wish cars with charging mats had a small little AC vent over them to keep phones cool. Even if the charger doesn't heat up your phone that much, a little cooling never hurts.

So, we've had our MME for three weeks now. As far as I can tell all the wireless charging matt does he heat up my phone; the actual charge goes down rather than up as it can't even keep up with the use of Android Auto. This is with my Pixel 6. Is this the way they all are eor is something wrong with mine?
In our '22 GTPE, the charging mat works every time. It charges very very fast and the phone doesn't get hot at all (Samsung S22). When we put the same phone on the charging mat in our '24 Subaru, it gets very hot, and sometimes it charges--sometimes it does not. The phone gets so hot in the Subaru we rarely use that charger anymore. But the mat in our Mach-E works great.

You cannot wirelessly charge Matt, at least not without his consent.

As for the mat, it only heats up my phone. TWRAPS is a huge improvement, though it is limited in speed/power due to the wimpy USB-C port that Ford provided.

Same here. But I found it its more to do with my case. If I take the case off, it charges fine. However I have an iPhone 15

I bought that aftermarket one and besides a couple little pouches for putting change and some other stuff in or scanner. It seems to charge really well not the fastest but it does keep it charged and connected it.

Do you happen to have a link/more information to buy this?

The answer is always Twraps.
My answer is just get a cable or two. Faster and more reliable on the rare occasions I or a passenger need a phone charged. Wireless is sorta cool, but I really have no use for it in the car.

without a firm/fixed positioning of the phone over the induction coils it acts mostly as a phone heater. since pixel 6's run hot already i'd consider plugging in instead. i put a 3"x6" piece of aluminum foil under the matt over the charger so it doesn't try to charge while in that front tray.
@kodiakng: I love your photo! Obviously in Oregon. Century Highway? Mt. Hood? Here is my photo at Trillium Lake, Mt. Hood, of my modified 1970 240z, known as 263Zed (from Canada). Here is the link to the auction when I sold it: https://bringatrailer.com/member/263z/ Enjoy.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

I broke down and got the Twraps mat.

These are not the strongest MagSafe magnets I've experienced, but they're strong enough. It takes just a tiny bit of attention to get the iPhone centred, and you can do it faster than you could properly align your iPhone on the OEM charging mat.

20W should be fast enough for most of us, I guess.

I wondered how aftermarket-ugly the cord with its fuse would look, but once installed you can't even see it unless you're in the back.

Viewed various YouTube videos that said to remove the OEM mat, which worried me because of possible interference from the OEM Qi device. Was relieved to see that the Twrap instructions said to install the new mat over top the OEM mat.

Dumb question: What do we do with the two little buffer pads supplied with the Twrap charging mat?
