The tech is pretty well-established, so I suspect it'll work well enough for most people. It will be sort of like the auto-dimming mirrors we have in many cars today. Hopefully it will be user-controlled instead of automatically adjusting (or at least it will be possible to switch to manual control).

I'm surprised by the claim that a glass roof reduces weight.

Yeah, you're probably right; they're probably comparing it to other glass roof designs. I was imagining a comparison to an aluminum roof without any glass.

Edited to add:
And not needing an additional, physical shading mechanism (including motors, rails, etc.) would reduce weight.
