Ah yes, I stand corrected - the card took a little while, but I waited on the PIN intentionally until I was closer to delivery since I didn't want the PIN itself to expire (I thought it did eventually, but I'm not actually sure). Expires in 12 months, which also how long your membership lasts. So no benefit nor detriment getting a pin right away.
