SSM 51146 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E - Unable To Be Charged With The Mobile Charger

Some 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E vehicles may exhibit a concern where the vehicle is unable to be charged with the mobile charger. This may be due to a broken charge handle latch. To correct the condition, replace the mobile charger. For claiming, use causal part 10B706 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Ford Mustang Mach-E SSM 51146 - Unable To Charge Due to Broken Charge Handle Latch broken-mobile-charger-

The J1772 latch on the Ford Mobile Charger has been known to break easily, mentioning this SSM should now help folks get a replacement.

I can now hear many people with a pair of grips going "OOOoooopssss.....how did that happen" :)
Why? other than just to get a new one - or was there a revision along the line that made the charger better?

Will this finally be recalled? My home dealership refused to replace it months ago. Car is currently at service for a broken window switch and the camera issue... at another dealer who I trust more. Left the charger with them with broken clip. Lets see if they can replace it for me.

If you have a broken one, by all means get it fixed.

then throw it in the frunk for travel and install a more robust device in your home for daily use.
Why would you throw it in the frunk for travel when there is a fitted storage space in the trunk?

Mine is still in its plastic wrap. I opened it once to see that all the bits were there, closed it up, and put it right back in the trunk. I didnā€™t even pull off the bubble wrap.

because I put things in the trunk that make getting it out of there harder than getting it out of the Frunk.

Haha same here, I actually unwrapped mine but put it back when I figured out the cord wasn't long enough for me to plug it in the one time I wanted to use it

Seen this at mobile charging stations too. Sucks when you pull in to charge and see a broken one

I havenā€™t even opened mine. They could have thrown an empty plastic box and some rope in the bag for all I know. I have a 6-50 outlet anyway, so I canā€™t even test the silly thing. šŸ¤ŖšŸ©
