9/24/21 UPDATE:

Tough Enough for Law Enforcement: Mustang Mach-E Is First All-Electric Vehicle to Pass Michigan State Police Tests

DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 24, 2021 – The Ford Pro all-electric police pilot vehicle based on the 2021 Mustang Mach-E SUV just became the first all-electric vehicle to pass the rigorous Michigan State Police 2022 model year evaluation. Testing included acceleration, top speed, braking and high-speed pursuit, as well as emergency response handling characteristics. Michigan State Police is one of two law enforcement agencies that annually test new model year police vehicles and publish the results for use by agencies nationwide.

“The fact that the Mustang Mach-E successfully stood up to the grueling Michigan State Police evaluation demonstrates that Ford can build electric vehicles that are capable, tough and reliable enough for even the most challenging jobs,” said Ted Cannis, CEO of Ford Pro. “We understand the needs of our commercial customers and are committed to unlocking new electrification opportunities for them.”

Ford Pro submitted the all-electric police pilot vehicle for testing in the Michigan State Police 2022 model year evaluation Sept. 18 and Sept. 20. Michigan State Police will publish results for vehicles tested on its website later in the fall.

DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 17, 2021 – Ford is paving the way for electric police fleets in America. As part of its more than $30 billion investment in electrification through 2025, Ford is exploring all-electric, purpose-built law enforcement vehicles.

To demonstrate that a vehicle with an electric powertrain can deliver strong performance and stand up to demanding police duty cycles, the company is submitting an all-electric police pilot vehicle based on the 2021 Mustang Mach-E SUV for testing as part of the Michigan State Police 2022 Model Year Police Evaluation on Sept. 18 and 20. Ford will use the pilot program testing as a benchmark while it continues to explore purpose-built electric police vehicles in the future. Law enforcement demand for all-electric vehicles is growing worldwide.

Last week, Ford introduced a new Mustang Mach-E police concept car in the United Kingdom that has police agencies lining up for a chance to try it out.

Grabber Blue PE -- great choice!

So all I'd need to do is hit 116 mph and they can't catch me. Got it.
GT Performance edition even specs at 130mph. I'm sure this one has special software.

This will never work... How do they intend to mount the gum drop to the glass roof?

They will probably do what they did for the NASCAR pace car safety lights: surface mounts fore and aft, interior windshield and back glass mounted strobes, surface mounts on the mirrors and fenders.

Well you may not be able to outrun the Motorola but you can outrun the EV that is not charged!

Well it's nice to see that the police car looks better than my GT.

Oops.

Of course, it never makes the news when a police car runs out of gas.

That looks menacing, especially that front end. Certainly more so than any of the Tesla police car photos I've seen. Seeing that front end, crooks may be less likely to try to run?
