I ordered the original three weeks ago. UPS lost the shipment, and A2Z immediately sent me a replacement yesterday. Wonder which one I’ll get?

Is the 'pro' enough better that someone who rarely uses a DC charger, and also is likely to get the free Ford one in the next month or so?

I had a number of info@ emails with A2Z about their website shipping accuracy. Which they updated since. They never brought up nor did I see the Pro option. At $18 difference the ability to lock seems worth it. I ordered the bundle on June 4 and it is nearly here in Redding CA for delivery tomorrow. I presume I will be getting the original device as they deplete their supply. The originals are no longer offered .... however the Emails did say they were awaiting shipment from their manufacturer. Ford adapter order #10541 May -> June-> July

I already have the previous model which requires you to slide the button to lock in order to charge. Only used it once for a quick test and it worked fine just tight at first.

Does anyone have information on the actual technical reason that an AC and DC adapter cannot be combined?

I would think that the DC adapter would be able to handle the AC Power levels. So it must be a limitation requiring a microcontroller in the adapter?

Because then the AC pins would be exposed to high voltage DC if they were shared. The charger components of the vehicle were only designed to be exposed to 240VAC, not 400VDC. Stuff would fry if you tried that.

Tesla port uses the same pin for AC and DC. So there’s two options:

1. Short the AC and DC pins on the CCS side. This won’t work, as the above post said.
2. The adapter could Man-in-the-Middle (or maybe eavesdrop) the CCS communication between the EVSE/Supercharger and the car, and selectively connect only the AC pins or only the DC pins. This would require computer chips and high voltage relays (think, HVBJB) in the adapter. That’s going to make it bigger, heavier, and a lot more expensive. It could also lead to design defects, considering that Ford screwed up HVBJB.

I received the bundle ordered 6/4/24 today via UPS in Northern California. The Typhoon IS NOT the new PRO model. Another collector's item. Nice cases and apparent build quality is excellent.

It's just what it looks like when you have a mix of human & automation that was put together quickly to accommodate a short time period of transition.
I don't think I'd score the product or the customer service based on unique circumstances.

Introducing V2 of any web based product can create a hiccup. Afterall, it's not anyone's fault that you ordered one product from them and have now decided that you would rather have a different product.
If it was brick & morter, you could avoid the hiccup. But you'd also have to get out of your chair. ?
