Haha. I just wasted too much time writing a (polite) reply, since I like Torchinsky, explaining BlueCruise etc without sounding like a rabid fanboy. I'm sure my answer will languish in the Grey's forever...

We're not talking about a regular individual making a random internet post. This is an automotive 'journalist'. I absolutely expect him to know what the hell he's talking about if he is going to write an article.

Oh yes this has been substantially altered from when I read it.

Still not as good as I expect from Torchinsky but it's less terrible.

Hey! He cleaned it up! Kuddos. I wish he would have at least acknowledged what inspired him to do so? Like maybe a certain web forum gently pointed out a few minor inaccuracies? ?

I still haven't seen any evidence that there isn't some sort od seat occupation sensor. In all the videos Ive seen of people trying to win Darwin Awards, the idiots in question leverage their weight against the back of the seat to lift it off the bottom of the seat. There could be a sensor detecting pressure on the seat back or a combination of seat back and seat bottom sensors. Also, just because they aren't using the eye nannies to confirm attentiveness doesn't guarantee that they aren't using them as a simple occupancy sensor for the time being.

At this point, all we have is anecdotal evidence and speculation.

Someone could get a knife, slice open their driver’s seat and look? ???
Not me. I’ll just keep driving the car myself with hands on the wheel until I have the dealer install the BlueCruise NOTA of course ???

Jalopnik has rusted away to a shadow of it's former self, especially since their primary focus seems to be stories about rusted out Jeeps, which are the only topic they seem to have any real knowledge or passion about.
