Originally, when pulling into the garage, my car might prompt me to allow the SiriusXM radio to use the WiFi connection to continue streaming the station I was listening to. That prompt wasn't consistent; usually, the station would just drop out until the car was outside the garage again. Mine is a 22 Premium. Has anybody figured out how to get the SiriusXM radio to play when it only has WiFi available? I don't subscribe to Ford Connect and I have the car's "hotspot" turned off. I do subscribe to SiriusXM and my package includes the streaming service.

You can’t force it to use WiFi. If there’s no satellite signal for a while, itā€˜s supposed to pop up a message asking if you want to stream over the Internet. But when that message does or doesn’t pop up is inconsistent.

Thanks. Your reply explains my experience exactly. I'd think Ford would have had a better plan.

Definitely still buggy with the inconsistency of when it will ask to Stream over Internet, not sure if that’s SXM’s problem or Sync team’s

Mine never asks if I want to stream. It just stops. ?ā€ā™‚?

Maybe this has something to do with relative satellite locations, surrounding building structures, etc? I park in both a wooden garage and a metal hangar and have never noticed a difference in reception.

It also depends on where you live because a lot of areas have terrestrial repeaters for the satellite signal.

I subscribe to SiriusXM in the car. I’ve never, not once seen this pop up. I’ve driven through the Holland and Lincoln tunnels on occasion and would just lose the signal until out of the tunnel. Never had it switched or prompted me to switch to my phone’s signal. I’m reading this thread and going huh?

Then I guess in your case, it is consistent.

I don't subscribe to SiriusXM in my MME. I have a subscription in my F150, which includes streaming.

I use the streaming subscription in my MME via my iPhone and the CarPlay app. When I'm in the garage, my iPhone is connected to my home wifi, so it starts playing immediately when I start the car and the iPhone connects to the car. When I leave home, the iPhone switches over to my T-Mobile data, and the SiriusXM app continues playing without any interruption.

When I return home, the reverse happens. I'm connected to T-Mobile, then when I get close to the garage, it automatically switches over to my home wifi, and continues playing SiriusXM without interruption until I turn off the car.

Occasionally, there are signal drop-outs when the signal is interrupted, when you're in a cellular dead zone for example. But I get that in my F150 with the satellite signal being interrupted periodically if traveling through a tunnel, or through dense trees that block the satellite signal.

My experience is that I don't feel that I'm missing out on anything by not having a dedicated subscription in the MME. As long as I have the streaming with my F150 subscription, that gives me what I need to listen to SiriusXM in the MME.

How would I know if my satellite SiriusXM switched to my home Wi-Fi when I pull into my garage? It sometimes remains connected, sometimes not.

There is a setting on the Sync menu to allow the car's SiriusXM to access streaming-only content. When my car is in the garage and can't receive the SiriusXM broadcast signal, these streaming-only channels work as expected, including when Android Auto isn't connected but my home WiFi is. Under these same conditions, however, the broadcast channels remain unavailable most of the time (but not always).

Last week the dealer gave me a 2023 GT as a loaner. I was surprised when pulling into the garage that it immediately asked if I wanted to use the WiFi connection to continue playing the satellite channel I had been listening to. I don't know if this is an improvement Ford made to the 2023 model or if it was just luck-of-the-draw.

I've not had mine use home WiFi to stream the broadcast channels without the Sync screen prompting me to allow it to do so. This prompt rarely appears though; typically the radio just goes silent.

OK, maybe I'm wrong and it isn't through my home WiFi that the streaming SiriusXM channels are connecting when I'm receiving no satellite signal.
