lol … the only reason I bought a Mach E was I found out in early 2023 that it’s a Model Y competitor with normal controls and you don’t have to get a GT. I live in a place where sports cars are too fragile to drive regularly. I was actually turned off by the original Mach E advertising. I find the body styling appealing and true to the brand, I get it.

I've never been a "Mustang" guy, so when I hear "that's not a mustang", I say I agree, it's a Mach-E. I wouldn't mind more space in the back. 2 sets of golf clubs barely fit. I'm only calling it an SUV until I get my tax credit, then it's a car.

My only experience with a Mustang before the Mach E was a rental for a weekend, convertible top, man, that thing had waaay less power and just leaked air into the cabin with the top up like you wouldn’t believe. I haven’t gotten a whole lot of “that’s not a Mustang”, but if I did, my response would either be “you are right, it’s better.” Or “wanna race?”

My pessimistic mind immediately goes to the costly and fancy buildings, quads, and gyms offered by schools, at the expense of good education and civic sense.

Especially after becoming parents recently, this worries us a lot these days. We are quick to link everything like this to failing education system! And there’s just a lot going on to fuel this habit of ours these days :)

Sure, it isn’t damaging physical vandalism, but I would argue that this is a mild form of aggression toward someone else’s property. If this person wanted to have a debate, they’d left a number. Instead, they got the Walmart receipt out, wrote this, got into their Saturn, and went on with life. Hope some pleasure was derived by them in this case at least.

But hey, at least we all and you got a good laugh out of it so thank you! Oh and also, you never know, the outcome could have been worse with a Tesla with whatever got said on X “this week”!

I am not even kidding - but one person straight up asked my wife if this was a Ferrari. The question was downright genuine and we got a smile out of it.

A few days later, another one asked us about horsepower and torque. He raised his eyebrows, with a surprised expression on his face.

Then another one asked if they’ve done justice electrifying under the brand name of a Mustang, which was a brilliant question to ask (whether the ethos has been preserved!)

And one time, an older gentleman (with me parked) just did two solid rounds around the car with a very well kept distance and with his hands to himself. And left!

I owned a '21 Select from 2-12-21 to 6-30-23, and now a '23 Premium.....I had only 1 "not a Mustang" in all that time.....in fact the most positive comments have come from folks driving Mustangs, especially early on.....I get a lot of comments and questions from people driving high end cars......and now that I have a red instead of grey, a lot of color comments......I would say that it is about 50-50, comments from "older folks" and younger.....(I am "older", 76 )

EDIT: back in Feb. '21 w/my Select, did get some "Ford makes a Mustang truck" comments, positive comments......

I just wish people would keep their opinions to themselves. We live in a world where everyone thinks that they can say or do whatever they want without taking into consideration common courtesy.

I remember when "everyone" in the mustang community was mad about v6s, calling them not real mustangs... that actually outsold the GTs. Then the ecoboost moved those goal posts, now those people are hung up on the Mach E. Mustang is just a brand, an awesome one.
My Mach E would destroy my old 08 w/ gears and tune.

Any time someone asks me about my car, I find myself immediately apologizing for the Mustang name. So far everyone looks quizzical, like why am I talking about the name. Vast majority don't care, and the ones that do are probably threatened by just about everything including the name of a car. I do wish they picked a unique name, but I understand the advertising advantage and vote of confidence behind the car when using Mustang.

It’s interesting in that while I haven’t heard the “that’s not a Mustang” comment I HAVE experienced young ladies repeatedly asking what kind of car it is. I chuckle to myself, after all I’m old enough to be their grandpa, so I know it’s the car not me. I tell them it’s a Mustang and it’s ELECTRIC! Always followed with giggles, ooooo’s and aaaahs… lol
