Sure hope some software engineer creates an app that would at least allow current owners to change the amperage on these now "dumb chargers."

Pretty immoral to say you are shutting down in a week - but turn off the servers today.

And good luck sending an email to ....fticonsulting.com.........that address is not working!!

Is that actually true? Wouldn't that be a major fire hazard if you had only wired for a lower amperage? I suppose it would just immediately trip the (say 40A) breaker...
FWIW, mine definitely persists the amperage setting between reboots. I've unplugged it many times and it stayed with my custom 16A setting (on a 40A model). Today I changed it back to 40A in case the app goes away.

As an aside, I feel like there's a growing number of "smart" device vendors that are just abandoning their service. It's been a wake up call for me, and I'm biasing heavily toward purchasing devices that can be managed locally (versus some cloud service).

The Flo X3 charger I just had installed has a physical adjustment dial inside to change the amperage, I have to assume that is how most chargers are doing it these days?
I'm not sure the Flo app would survive bankruptcy, but I don't really need an app if I can set charge windows on the MME.

sad but inevitable. Too much unnecessary junk (software). And allowing an outside entity to have control/access of your property? Bad enough with a vehicle. Ask any MME owner. Shutting off OTAs still an option, but.....
"Dumb" chargers still recommended - the original EVSE still on top of list (7 years now, nary a problem [knock wood]).

This is such a shitty way to leave the business. Lots of commercial chargers are bricked because of this (no way to turn them on without the backend). We need to find a way to deal with dead chargers left behind by these companies (Tritium being the other large business that's dead).
Anyone needing a backend CSMS / software provider should reach out to ChargeLab - https://chargelab.co/blog/enel-x-way-migration

Software discontinued means both....we cannot change settings, leaving loyal customers in the lurch. What a chicken shit move to say "in 7 days" but shut down the App servers immediately. A moral company would have given 30 days notice and advise that owners use the server to make any final adjustments!!

I literally received a new unit under warranty yesterday. I found out this morning that it trips the 50 amp breaker at its factory set 40amp dumb charge. Guess who can't change that setting?

And if the software is discontinued, you know the answer on updates....roflmao!

The app is still working

Here's some hope for local control and integration with HomeAssistant, without the app or cloud service. Disclaimer: requires some technical skills including docker.

I have the service up and running and writing to my MQTT server. I can see the Juicebox status, but I'm still working out the details of sending commands to it.

I wonder what all “software discounted” means. I can’t change settings on my charger or no more updates. ?‍♂
It likely will be an issue if you don't have the app. You can connect wifi direct and make changes but from what I gather the app will no longer relay info / stats

My app connectivity stopped working about 45 days ago I wonder if they shut off connectivity with really old juice boxes. At any rate I went and bought an Emporia charger works great no complaints

I've had the Charger JB over 3 years. I had to give it the "Fonzie" once as well (banging the unit with the heel of my hand) upon recommendation from their technical support. I agree with the posts above; the few times I needed their technical support they were GREAT and Sorted within minutes. Too Bad we lose them.

I really never look at their app and have not updated it. Interestingly with all of this going on I looked at the app and it says the last time my car was on charger was March 2023. Well, ok then, but it's on the charger almost every night LOL.

So for those of us not very electrically inclined; my charger has operated as a dumb charger essentially since I've had it and I let the MME decide when to charge. I see post about changing Amperage. Why? How do I know what mine is set at and do I need to change and if so how? Please dumb down the responses....Not an engineer.

I normally charged my car at 32 so I lowered the max charging range from 40 (a plug in unit) to 32. I increased it to 40 amp thru the app just in case the app doesn’t connect with the unit in the future.
I also only used the car for time zone charging but when I went into the app yesterday it was set for time zone charging. Weird as I never set it that way. I reset it to always charge when plugged in.

I"ve used mine as a dumb evse (charger) since day one, probably nearing two years now, zero issues. I tried a few times to get the app to work and never did. I just let the jb provide the juice and mthe mach e controls the charging.
