Hello all purchased a 2024 Mach E for my daughter lol hint hint and I’m trying to charge it at a Tesla superstation. I’ve downloaded the Tesla app and the Ford app. I was standing in front of a Tesla charging station today. The Tesla app could not even find where I was at the charging station and the Ford app said not compatible, but I do have every single adapter known to man to make this Tesla Charger work. I went to the Tesla app and put in my make and model and also put in that I have the adapter but it still couldn’t put me in front of the charger. I was at it put me 10 miles away. I thought this can charge at any Tesla charging station

You can only charge at some supercharger stations, not all. The Tesla app, Ford Pass, and other charging apps will help you find compatible Tesla Superchargers. They will say NACS Adapter needed.

Nope.

1. Get there Tesla app. It will have the best information on which Superchargers are available and where they are.

2. Get an adapter. Since it’s for your daughter and you want her to be able to charge in as many places as possible, you should buy a NACS to CCS adapter for Superchargers and a NACS to J-1772 adapter for destination chargers. You can get both from A2Z or Lectron.

You can charge at 20,000+ chargers/stalls/handles Superchargers which are available to Tesla NACS Partners.

You can use the Tesla find us link to identify compatible superchargers, as well as destination, chargers, which you can use with a second adapter, which will convert Level 2 NACS to J-1772 as mentioned by @ChasingCoral

Tesla Find Us - Filter by “NACS Partner” under Superchargers

Another option for charging at a low price or free is by using a NACS to J-1772 adapter.

This adapter is used with Tesla destination chargers commonly found at hotels / shopping center / parking lots.

The level 2 Stellar adapter will pay for it self overtime by avoiding an expensive fast charge on the road every night while you sleep at the hotel with Tesla destination charging.

You can use the same Tesla Find Us link to locate Tesla Level 2 destination chargers.

Tesla Find Us Superchargers available with adapter / Magicdock location Chargers

New orders: Current estimate for A2Z is shipping will take 1 - 2 weeks for the new Typhoon DCFC Pro adapter / Stellar AC adapter. Still in time for Spring Break travel plans.

Discount promo code “FORD” is still working and free shipping is also available.

AC Level 2 Hotel Destination adapter

A2ZEV NACS To J1772 adapter (Hotel Destination Charger for Hotels / Shopping centers) | Up to 80A | 20kW | 12 Months Warranty

DCFC Level 3 adapter

A2Z EV NACS to CCS1 Adapter for Ford - Save 5% / Free Shipping + bundle the A2Z Stellar AC NACS to J-1772 adapter for $88 additional after discount code "FORD".

If it has a silver ring around the handle / plug it's V2 and not compatible. There's some dumb stations scattered around (NV!) that are half V3/V2 and should work, but don't because they are flagged as V2 in the Tesla app so you can't activate them. V3 needs the NACS adapter and V4 are compatible as is with the magic dock.

^^^ Correct.

I love the new V4 towers with the super long cables.
Don't have to worry about taking up 2 spaces...

Not all V3 will work. Tesla reserves some V3 stations for Teslas only. V4 are supposed to have built in magic docks but they are usually disabled and still need to use the adapter.

You just have to use the app to see which locations are compatible and it will tell you if you need the adapter or not.

It's easier to just ask the app.

There are also brand new V3.5 stations that could work with NACS but don't have NACS charging enabled. No silver rings there. However, the Tesla app doesn't show them as compatible chargers. I tested one and unfortunately the app was right again.

Note that there are v4 dispensers out there but no actual v4 charging stations yet. They all still have the old v3 cabinets.

Yes, it’s all a confusing mess right now. You can’t rely on looking at the physical station to see if it’s compatible. You need to always check the app to identify compatible stations. The app will always be correct.
