On Tesla, you have connectors to the DC battery and AC chargers that are both open when you plug in. The communication protocol decide if it it AC or DC and closes the appropriate connector. So for an adapter to support both AC and DC on non Tesla, you would have to implement the communicaton...
Most destination chargers are 16 KW or less. I have a cheap ACBroad adapter I got on Amazon, and it has not caused problems. It is more important to get a J1772 extension. Most Tesla destination chargers have very short cords. You can get a 5m 32amps J1772 extension on AliExpress for less than...
They need to extend the Tesla charger cord or provide an adapter with a cord. I have a Tesla Destination charger adapter, but I also carry a J1772 extension cord (I got it many years ago).
I frequently park in a garage with 20 Tesla chargers and 10 J1772. Most Tesla owners have a J1772 adapter...
I had the same problem and Reset All fixed it. It's a pain as you have to reset entry code, startup code, phone as a key. Keep in mind you will need the factory code (card you got when you got the Mach-e) to reset the entry code.
You are correct that you can hack a 1500w system. That may run your furnace or just keep a few lights on. What I am looking for to is a 10Kw+ backup power that will not only run a furnace but also the stove, fridge, security system, lights...etc. and is fully supported by the car manufacturer...
Appears to be an actual problem. I only have a 30 amps circuit for my L2 charging, so it may not apply to me. I am not sure if it would apply to bidirectional DC charging.
I have a 2021 Mach-e and never had a problem charging on L2 chargers. I had some issues with L3 but was never unable to charge (sometimes I had to restart the session a few times).
I am not sure what you see as L2 derating. How do you know it's a Mach-e problem and not a charger problem?
As stated in this link https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1140803_2024-kia-ev9-bidirectional-charging-here-s-how-it-will-work they will offer the bidirectional charger and grid disconnect switch. This is very similar to the transfer switch on a standby generator. In our house, we have a 50...
KIA partnered with Wallbox and is offering bidirectional on the EV9.
Why can't Ford offer the same for the MME? We have a generac backup in our house but are looking at downsizing to a townhouse condo. It would not be possible to put a generator outside but we could have backup with the...
