  1. Mach-E vs. 2024 Porsche Macan EV - design, specs, price

The Macan is going to be playing in a different ballpark than any other EV currently available. For those willing to pay the price, it will be an amazing drive. No other automaker spends the time to dial in chassis tuning and driving dynamics the way Porsche does. The official release is this...
  2. Official: Ford cuts 2023 Mach-E pricing 🔻 and increasing production 🔺!

Yes they can't retroactively modify the price of something already sold, because the sales tax will still have to be based on the original price paid. Unfortunately a refund from Ford will not qualify the sales for a tax credit.
  3. Official: Ford cuts 2023 Mach-E pricing 🔻 and increasing production 🔺!

Im not sure this is enough. They need to get the Premium Long Range below $55k. They can remove the charger and charge for it at the parts desk, and make bluecruise an after purchase software add on. The ineligibility for the tax credit in that trim is a big problem for Ford. At the end of...
  4. Electrician just installed a 60A breaker over 8/3 Romex

Your electrician is incompetent. He should have used 6/3 wire. Putting a 60 AMP breaker is a problem because 60 amps through 8/3 is a fire hazard, even though the charger is only supposed to draw 32 amps, the breaker is the safeguard incase it tries to draw more due to a fault.
  5. Wild price quote ranges for a Nema 14-50 outlet install

Yes it will work most of the time but to have 2 GFCIs controlling the same circuit is not a good setup - this is why Tesla removed the 14-50 option, and ChargePoint says it’s not recommended and that if code requires a 14-50 to be on GFCI then you should hardwire the charger. It may work most...
  6. Wild price quote ranges for a Nema 14-50 outlet install

If GFCI is code where you live for a 14-50 and the electrician insists on it I would recommend having the charger hardwired at which point you don’t need a GFCI breaker. All the wall mounted EV chargers have a GFCI built in and this is a recipe for nusciance tripping of the breaker.
  7. Another EV buyer cheated by the dealership model

Go in person on a Saturday and demand to speak to the manager...repeat your story over and over so other customers can hear...the manager will quickly come and assist you.
  8. Another EV buyer cheated by the dealership model

Honestly, you probably aren't going to get a dealership to come off of MSRP at this point. If you just don't want to do business with these guys there are plenty of dealers in the NYC area with Mach E in stock or incoming - most all are right around the $50K price point that you are looking for.
  9. Incentives may be gone after they expire on 7/6

Yeah there are still there. They expire on 7/6…
  10. Incentives may be gone after they expire on 7/6

Looks like Ford may be removing incentives from their vehicles. Makes sense since inventory is pretty low. https://www.carsdirect.com/deals-articles/ford-quietly-eliminates-almost-every-single-rebate
  11. Nissan Ariya

Nissan build quality, paint and interior materials are some of the worst in the industry...I would stay away from this as there are better built options out there including Mach E, Tesla, ID4, Ioniq etc.
  12. Chip shortage? Ford did this to themselves?

All companies are affected by this, they were doing okay until that Renesas factory fire in Japan since that factory produces a huge amount of semiconductors for autos on older 90/65nm processes. Most cars have hundreds of semiconductors in them - a shortage of any of them causes the inability...
  13. Got my first electric bill.... share yours

TOU is generally not a good deal for people with solar panels...with 7a - 9p as peak, I would suspect it is only a good deal for the utility.
  14. Got my first electric bill.... share yours

I don't know your exact rates in NJ, but in NY the natural gas prices vs electricity are so low that it is not worth it from a cost standpoint to use heat pumps and electric water heaters.. It is also very likely that your system will produce more than the rated amount. For example I have a...
  15. Got my first electric bill.... share yours

Be careful over sizing your solar system. If you generate more energy that you use it sits in the account for one year, after that the utility gets to buy out those unused credits at the wholesale rate. The wholesale rate is very low and there is no ROI on that excess capacity.
