I’ve never used the over the mirror type. Added rear view visibility would be nice, though. I have the display on my camera set to turn off after 10 seconds. I don’t need to see it while I’m driving; just want the recording to be available if I ever need it.

It can turn off completely when you turn the car off, or it can continue recording in time-lapse or just when it detects an impact.

Yeah, it takes some contortions to get at the wiring for sure. My wife walked into the garage while I was upside down with my feet by the headrest and torso in the footwell. She laughed and walked away. Luckily, I didn't need her help in getting upright again.
