This afternoon, my tailgate started acting wonky. It opens fine, but when I try to close it, it closes about one quarter of the way, then stops and honks the horn twice. I finally forced it shut manually. Any idea why that’s happening.

Also, if anyone knows the whereabouts of the person who thought the double honk was a good idea, please share so I can pop the person in the nose.

Are the doors locked with a key in the car?

My 2021 did this on occasion. The sensors think something is in the way of closing the liftgate. My crate is lashed to the rear seat backs using the Latch system and forward cargo rings so there was nothing physically near the opening. Turned out that it was the position of the sun and where I was standing that made the car think something was in the way. I have not had this happen with the 2024 since I got used to standing a little more off to the side or farther away with the 2021. 🤷‍♂️🐩

Turn off “Mislock Chirp” to get rid of the obnoxious double beep. Since the door failed to close, it’s a “Mislock” and apparently someone has a very bad sense of humor to call it a “chirp”.

I have this problem with the hatch occasionally. I have looked for stuff in the way, etc. Tried multiple time to close it, and so forth. Now I usually just give it a second try, which works sometimes, but, if not, I just manually close it.

This happened to me once. There was nothing in the way, I forced it closed (I was in the supermarket parking lot) and once home I tried again and never had the problem since. Gremlins, gremlins ...

Thank you! I just went out and disabled this!

I just had this happen to me the other day. I had my keys and my phone (PAAK) with me, and had simply left the phone in the car. It did exactly as MP7 described. I grabbed the phone out, and the tailgate closed normally. Problem solved!
