I had a cat under the hood of my 1980 Mustang, resting in the engine bay. After I left for work, my wife called me later to report a dead cat where the Mustang was parked. When I returned from work, I saw the dead cat and its head wound. Seems that it could not get out as soon as I started the...
Well, if the first electrified Ford was the hybrid Escape in 2005 and it had the 120 VAC outlet, I expect all electrified Ford's and Lincoln to have it, too. Only the Mach-E missed that goal.
Chevy Volt owners had a Web page that posted traveled miles for any owner who was registered with Chevy. The top milage was a GM employee who passed 100,000 miles in four years. He posted that he never lost any battery range. I believe that Chevy posted an article about that.
In my 2014 Fusion Hybrid, I can leave the car on with the fob inside, turn the A/C on at a set temperature, open the door, leave, close the door, and lock it with my two dogs inside. The car will chirp once the horn as a warning that the fob is inside, but the compressor is loud enough to...
The screw in type is mostly General Electric. My home, built in 1976, has the Zinsco plug in type. Last week I added a new 100 A dual pole breaker to my main panel. It cost me $120 at Amazon .
My JuiceBox 16 kW Level 2 EVSE cost me just $200 from a kit that was on Kickstarter in 2014. I set it up initially for just 7.2 kW on a 40 A breaker and finished it in December 2014. Then in January 2015 Chevy presented the Bolt, which can take up 7.2 kW, so I guessed the future. I wired it up...
I lived in cities since I was born, yet one of my parent's homes that was built in 1964 had 230 VAC wiring. I know because I repaired the electric stove and oven, and it had a large three prong, 230 VAC 50 A plug, and the hot water heater used a 230 VAC 30 A plug. If you are not planning to...
Tesla is following the old saying:"If you can't beat them, join them". So if they started with a propietary charging connector to compete against the SAE J1772 standard, and cannot beat them, then they are joining with an adapter. I see Tesla giving up to use the SAE CCS standard in all future...
I know that the li-ion battery will last a long time. But some chemistries can develop a "memory" from low usage such that the range can drop. I recommend doing a full discharge and charge cycle once every few months. This will also reset the range calculations.
