Haven’t had a problem with that the door cover has plenty of play so it still has room to pull flush to the body. Also I don’t pull the Velcro tight on the open end of the cover. Just had 6” snow with a couple inches of ice on top and worked just fine.
I usually thread the charger through the Velcro strap on the closed end of the door cover. I find that it pulls the door to just enough it kind of keeps the rubber insert in place.
