Finally - iOS Dark Mode

Today I received an update on my iPhone 16 Pro for the FordPass app. Opened it up and it was automatically in dark mode to match my device theme. All I can say is: finally.

Thanks for pointing this out, I usually only update apps at the end of every month. Dark mode is like a late Christmas gift. This is fantastic!

Great, but now I’m reminded of the Lincoln app which has Slide to Start:

not that I’m complaining but I could see the inconsistency bugging a few of those privileged to own a vehicle from both brands.

Design language is just too similar imho to have such different modes of operation.

Slide to start is required on ICE vehicles because of carbon monoxide risk. EVs don't have to worry, so the button is simpler. I don't think it's a big deal, I have no issues when I start an ICE in the app.

Interesting, so an ICE or hybrid Ford would display side to start in FP, but tap to start for EVs? If so that’s neat.

Still think having one gesture like swipe or slide for both apps wether EVs and ICE is the way to go, especially since we only get 1 more remote start attempt after that false start from a raindrop…

Plus there’s no hum or rumble on an EV to let us know that the cars been turned on, so with how quickly the car starts from a single tap (don’t even have to stay on the app after hitting the button), range could take a minor hit in extreme weather.

A little buggie for me, my iPad(updated) is stuck on climate start for 6 hours, the iPhone (not updated)shows that it is off , emporia monitoring system shows that the charger isn’t drawing any power. I’ll fix it later.

Go to apple App Store, search Ford pass, select ford pass, select update.

Open Control Center(swipe down from top right), tap (+), tap (+add a control), select (Dark Mode)

Your all set, to turn Dark Mode on or off, open the control center and tap the Dark Mode button.

You can, there is a setting for , Dark, Light and auto dark/ light. The instrument cluster is listed under “General Settings”.

Dark Mode:
Touch the car picture > Settings tab > Scroll the sidebar > Display > Instrument Cluster Mode and Center Display Mode to Dark.

Mine is 5.12.0 for my iPhone and it shows the update available. I did the update on my iPad and it’s screwed up, I’m going to wait and not update my iPhone, you should also!
