Team Dark Mode

I guess I'll be the first one...

I have mine set to follow day/night for light/dark modes. I do get a spark of joy when I'm driving into the night and it flips to dark mode, but I also have my daytime light mode screen brightness turned down so it's really not distracting, but easier to read (for me personally) when the sun is beaming in.

Light mode in the MME is almost as bad as forum members who read this forum in light mode and post screen shots of it.

I agree! The transition is fun to watch. Also interesting to note that the headlights turn on a while before the screen transitions

I used to have automatic but have since switched to the dark side as well. My eyes are much happier now....

I think we can all agree the infotainment UI isn't the most modern and clean on the MME. However, I think setting the instrument cluster and center display to dark mode has made the UI look better. I've also set Android Auto to be in dark mode as well. I generally like to have light and dark modes adjust with the lighting conditions, but I'm happy with this for now. Anyone else using dark mode for their displays?

Yeah, on my phone, tablet, etc, I usually set it to switch between dark and light at sunrise and sunset, but in the Mach-E, I switched both to dark all the time. I have a black interior, so to me, the white on the display and console was too jarring.

I put the dash screen on dark mode, and the large screen on auto for a nice mix. When someone posts their dash in light mode I’m like whats that? Then realize it’s in light mode. Maybe they dont know how to change it?

I prefer the navigation map in auto mode so it is light during the day and dark at night the problem is that the rest of the UI is the same. There really needs to be a separate option for the map, that way I can keep everything in dark mode and have the navigation map in auto.

The current UI is a miss match of various thing that work in dark / light while other that are locked to one, if you have light enabled and then use the clam screen you then get a dark clam, with bright hvac at the bottom some forgot everything is supposed to look consistent, then again when I look at the clip art icons I am not surprised.

Speaking of which, when the automatic dark mode turns on it reminds me that my glowing pony must have turned and adds to the joy ?

Yes 100% of the time. The light mode is ENTIRELY to bright!

I completely disagree. I think Sync 4A is one of the cleanest and best car UIs out there. I mean it’s not perfect and I think it was better when it launched than it is now, but have you seen some of the crap other automakers put on their infotainment systems? Sync 4A has clean lines, good iconography (in its original form), and nice animations. The instrument cluster is my favorite piece. The design is beautiful, the simplicity is perfect, and the animations make me smile every day.

As far as day vs night mode, I am an Auto person. I enjoy the white UI as much as the black.

Dark mode for instrument cluster and auto for center makes me happy.

Auto mode. It’s easier for me to read and interpret the maps with less strain during daylight hours. And I like maps. On the other hand, all my phones and tablets are dark mode.
