This would be good news, although once again Ford would be following and not leading. I read recently that Ford is only one of the few US car companies who’s making a really BIG jump in its stock price by working on batteries not necessarily for cars, but for other purposes, like Tesla. Maybe...
Many new EVs are coming up with some impressive range. AS, noted in my original post I have preordered the BMW iX3. Encouraged that it came in number one in this real lift test:

Interestingly the Volvo EX60...
Jeff - Thank you for this. I’m hoping you are correct and that the iX3 and Volvo EX60 represent major upgrades, not just for me, but for those who have been waiting for better cars to tempt them into acquiring an EV. I do worry about the potential bugs that come with any new system. But, hey...
This is from BIMMERPOST:
I The new BMW iX3 utilizes an advanced active thermal management system with liquid cooling/heating to keep its high-voltage battery at an optimal temperature. This ensures peak performance during driving, prevents overheating, and preconditions the battery for maximum...
Thank you - I found the forum a couple of days ago.
I want a combination of range and fast charging speeds. I live in Northern California, and go to LA area fairly often - I could stop at Harris Ranch or Kettleman City and add a fairly quick 150 miles to make it to LA in one relatively short stop.
So my lease on my 2023 Mace GT PE ends in late September of this year. As I’ve posted before, I really enjoy driving this car, it really is a lot of fun. But I desire longer range and faster charging. So after much consideration, I went ahead and ordered a BMW iX3. I went with the 20 inch wheels...
Problem is my local Volvo dealer says the P12 (the one with the largest battery, and, therefore the longest range) will not be immediately available in the US. Maybe not until end of 2026 or into 2027.
Interestingly, though, both BMW and Volkswagen face 15% tariffs on their new electric iX3 (BMW) and the EX60 (Volvo) vehicles, yet both are bringing the cars to the US. Neither vehicle will be made in the US. The BMW will be made in Hungary and the Volvo will be made in Sweden. Somehow, these...
To answer my own question, long range and fast charging times are the holy grails for me - that and software that works. Both BMW and Yolvo are experienced car companies, and hopefully will produce excellent EVs. I did contact an area Volvo dealer that is taking preorders ($1000.00 refundable...
These two seem destined to go head to head. Which would you choose? I really love driving my 2023 GTPE - but with the added range, these are very tempting.
