Well I've never been prompted like an inhibit update. So yeah, if it is one, then it isn't getting that far.

They validate it, but the process takes a long time. I've made edits to Google maps, which has a much better process. And with Google you build up a reputation of trust. It's mostly things like hours of a business, or pinpointing exactly where they are. You can add and delete roads as well...

Here has an app (android link) to fix the data in the maps. Then that gets pushed out to Ford and other automakers...eventually. It let's you fix roads and points of access.

I agree they are more accurate. But there is no free lunch. Here, which supplies the maps, have to run their business somehow. If you want Google supplied maps built in, then money has to exchange hands. A lot of people would also be up in arms about it (justified or not), due to privacy. No...

It seems to be isolated to these phones. 7 in particular. Benefit of going with the most mainstream manufacturer I guess.

Google maps will make sponsored businesses more prominent. Apple may see it as a value add to not rely on Google. But the profit margins on cars are nothing like the insane margins Apple has on everything.

I don't think the margins You may have paid over 50000 for the car. But it's also a more expensive car to build. Do you know what the profit Ford makes on a Mach-E? I don't. Seems pertinent though.

Nav in cars uses licensed maps and requires map updates. Are you wanting your maps to be out of date and then pay for on demand map updates? Older, non connected cars are like that. My mom's 2011 Explorer you have to pay for the updated SD card, $150.
