Hey, Brian—I filled out the survey, but one thing you need to take back with you is that Ford either has to follow through promises to keep tech up to date with OTA updates or stop making the promises. It’s not exactly inspiring brand loyalty to sell cars costing anywhere from $50-$70K that are...
Just got 6.14 about an hour or so ago. I had nothing since the Tesla update in March, then in the past four days got ECG-24.2.4.9, ECG-24.2.4.9.1, and 6.14. I had previously been on 6.7 or 6.8 plus a bunch of the random other ones. My icons updated. Haven’t had any issues other than it forgot...
sure, not now. They’ve literally been around for over 100 years, and the infrastructure has been there for most of that time too. But when ICE vehicles first came out, it was ABSOLUTELY a very big deal when someone made the first cross-country car trips, etc. If they had had YouTube (or videos)...
And so of course I spoke too soon, because last night yet another one dropped, allegedly containing changes to the HVAC system that are supposed to reduce fogging. Not sure if it has because now it’s a lot warmer than it was when I was experiencing the fogging.
These updates also seem to include the “1 MPH while stopped” bug—interesting that they didn’t bundle the fix for that in with the other stuff they dropped. Been a couple days since I’ve had any updates so maybe the faucet is off for now.
In Detroit, at least, there are a couple iconic AM stations with talk shows that are pretty popular, and people like listening to local sports broadcasts with particular broadcasters. Although Sirius now carries a lot of those sports broadcasts carrying those stations’ feeds, and at least one of...
And then the day after 6.8 installed I got a notice about an update for CSP 21B36 for improvements to PaaK that installed last night. So after a month-long drought, three updates in the span of a few days. The 6.8 update appears to have also included the AM radio update because that magically...
So it turns out the radio update was the earlier one, not the one that adds AM radio. But now, two days later, I got a notice that 6.8 will install tonight. For me these keep dropping in clumps—nothing for a month, then several in a couple days’ time.
It feels a lot like they have some kind of cycle to these. I got my 2023 GT in August and got a few updates throughout September and October then not much, then a flurry of about four over the span of two weeks in December. I was just thinking it had been exactly a month since my last update...
I think you are VASTLY overestimating how much anyone cares about your data or anything about you. I run a little bit paranoid but this is beyond the pale. Yeah, you could probably block all the transmission of data and also pretty much disable anything good or useful about the car, too.
And...
If you have an iPhone, try “force quitting” it and opening again (swipe up to make the app “go away”). It will give you a notification that “Phone as a Key works best” when you keep the app running, to which I wryly reply “Phone as a Key works best when it works.” But I digress. Anyway, that...
When I lived in the Detroit area, Pat Milliken Ford was my go-to for sales and service. I live in Central IL now and bought my MME GT from Mike Murphy Ford in Morton. I’m an A/Z plan purchaser and they handled that completely by the book with no shenanigans or attempted shenanigans. Pretty...
Glad to hear they helped you. When I lived in Cleveland they quickly became my least favorite service department. Maybe they’ve improved some in the last couple years.
Not so much anxiety but frustration: Ford likes to continually overpromise on tech that they either deliver late or never deliver at all. I don’t care that much about 1.3 per se, since I have 1.2 already, but constantly being told to expect it by X time and not getting it is always a bad sign...
That’s cute, but unlike the mobile charger, none of those has a specific spot in the trunk to store it, and none of them have any Hope of powering your car, except maybe the hand warmers and MREs if you remember enough college chemistry or watch lots of MacGyver. But then, you know that.
According to Plugshare, there are apparently more 220 outlets around than you'd think (or at least more than I would have thought). But the thing is, maybe the mobile charger isn't much use in an emergency, but if you don't have it with you, it's definitely no use.
