Thanks, Rick. Guess I saw that and it didn't register. It's an unfair amount, especially when compared to ICE vehicles, which is something we should all be talking to our elected officials about, however, EVs are still far cheaper to own and operate, even with an exorbitant extra fee. That fee...
I think that EV rage has really settled down since there are so many models out there. I only get compliments, questions, and stories from previous Mustang owners. Even had a Ram Diesel truck owner in Jefferson City, MO, say "nice car."
The greatest benefits of battery preconditioning are impactful when DC fast charging in sub-freezing temperatures, so no, it's not worth $80 for a handful of times a year. Do I wish they had a simple manual preconditioning button on the screen? Yes, but you don't charge your customers for...
For a non-OBD2 solution, just export the route from ABRP to Google Maps. You don't get the benefit of real-time connectivity, but ABRP is pretty accurate without the connection. Battery preconditioning is really only necessary in cold months.
Preconditioning can speed up DCFC charging in cold weather. You don't need to consider it in temperatures above 30 degrees F. As an aside, if you have Android Auto, consider mapping your route with Google Maps through that connection. It's very similar to ABRP in route planning.
Sorry that you're having these issues. My Ford app is working fine - iPhone 17 iOS 26.4.2 2023 MME GT. Look for local issues - Bluetooth, reinstall the app, restart the phone. The usual suspects.
I used these ramps a lot on a long road trip last year, but on a similar trip this year, I looked for Tesla SCs that were 325 kW, which have long cables that don't require wonky parking. The ramps never left my frunk. It also helped that Ionna chargers are now becoming more prevalent, so I...
The best thing you can do is set up an account at https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ and play with the options with a mock trip. The free account is pretty robust. I pay for a monthly membership ($5.00) when I travel to give me a little more flexibility with my settings. Compare it to your...
Sorry about that. We throw that acronym around a lot on this forum. A Better Route Planner (ABRP) is your best friend on a long road trip. It'll ID proposed chargers along your route and allow you to set parameters to maximize your efficiency. It is not, however, a great driving nav tool...
Having taken several very long road trips in my 2023 GT (4k miles round trip), I agree that drive mode makes no difference. Most of your driving will be at a constant speed on interstates, so acceleration/deceleration is less impactful (great case for Blue Cruise). Drive the mode you're most...
I'm in the same boat. My Ford Nav subscription expires in June. I never use this antiquated application except maybe twice a year when I use it for battery preconditioning on a winter road trip (but obviously not at a Tesla SC). That doesn't justify the expense. Give up on it, Ford. This...
I upgraded my home electrical service, knowing that not only would I get an EV, but I would also be replacing my gas furnace and water heaters with heat pump versions. Yes, mileage wil vary on the cost, but most homes are underpowered for the 21st century. There are also options for chargers...
I bought my MME in my final year of employment, so it was intentionally my retirement car. I wanted something fun. My previous cars had been for transportation - Subaru Outbacks and Ford Tauruses. The MME was a great commuting car, especially since I had free L2 charging at work. It's an even...
I did something similar over the past two weeks - 4000 miles round-trip, using I-70 for half of that. Yes, speed really impacts efficiency. Going above 75 mph and you almost add an additional 30-minute charge vs. 65, so you lose the benefit of speed. It's tough not to go fast in an MME (and...
How soon we forget. An Android update broke PaaK on Samsung phones last year. Technology is challenging.
