not how the box works. It defaults to just being a 40 amp charger. When it connects to the server it gets different instructions. If it can't connect it just stays a dumb 40 amp charger.

That's incorrect. The boxes are totally dumb and take all instructions from the server. Once they can't reach the server they just default to dumb charger. After next Friday it is just a dumb 40amp charger.
