  1. Tesla Slashes Prices

There is a big difference between saying its good looking and calling it ugly. You are biased beyond reason if you can call a MY ugly while drooling over the styling/shape of an MME. I actually know quite a few people that don't like the styling of the MME.
  2. Tesla Slashes Prices

The resale prices will adjust downwards based off the MRSP. Once there is supply EVs first year depreciation will be far worse than a ICE car. Who would want a used EV for $40k when you can get a brand new one for low $50s and get a $7,500 tax credit. Realistically EVs will depreciate...
  3. Tesla Slashes Prices

Exactly! Deprecation scales are pretty well known. Leasing companies use them extensively when calculating contracts. Day One - 20% depreciation Year One - 30-35% Year Two - 40-50% Year Three - to 60% When you start paying over $60k for vehicles that translates into pretty large dollar amounts.
  4. Tesla Slashes Prices

Anyone buying the MME select a few months ago only paid low $40s net after tax credit. New cars have always lost 20% the second you drive them off the dealers lot. You actually did very well on your MME.
  5. Tesla Slashes Prices

Maybe its all part of a longer term play. Tesla have spent years building the supply chain and their own battery tech, not to mention massive purpose built production facilities. The $60k plus EV sector was getting crowded and the competition are still making a loss on their vehicles. The...
  6. Tesla Slashes Prices

Spot on! The funny thing is deriding the Tesla because they don't like the styling, which is ridiculously subjective.
  7. Tesla Slashes Prices

Tesla have been working towards this for several years. The super facilities and controlling there own battery development gives them a massive market advantage. Musk started buy lithium and other mineral resources years ago. Tesla can undercut the market and still maintain a decent margin.
  8. Tesla Slashes Prices

And yet the majority of professional comparisons either favor the MY or call it a tie. Funny how people that have already purchased MMEs try and convince the world its a better car on a MME message board. 🤣 They are both good EVs. The model Y has its own set on plus points like superior...
  9. For those waiting on orders, what does the Model Y price drop to $52,990 make you think?

Realistically 40-50% of the original MSRP would be typical depreciation. EVs are uncharted territory to some degree and battery degradation might start impacting them after 5-6 years.
  10. Tesla Slashes Prices

Most EVs will struggle against the reduced Tesla prices. Regardless of what the MME owners think on this site the Tesla is considered a luxury brand by many people, especially in countries like the UK. Sure the MME might have better build quality but the Tesla software and charging...
  11. Tesla Slashes Prices

A single person earning a total of $68,000 in 2022 using standard deductions and no 401k contributions would pay $7,700 income tax. The tax credit of $7,500 would be applied against the $7,700 tax liability.
  12. Tesla Slashes Prices

Maybe in Florida but not in other States, especially CA. Having a good excuse for a Roth conversion isn't a bad thing though.
  13. Tesla Slashes Prices

With the standard deduction a single person earning $68,000 would pay over $7,700 tax, so its unlikely there are many folks that buy $50k cars that don't have sufficient tax liability.
  14. Tesla Slashes Prices

Even in CA there are plenty of Tesla drivers under the salary threshold for the tax credit. That is fairly irrelevant because a price drop of around $24k (New price - tax credit - sales tax saving) would open up MANY more potential buyers earning under the salary threshold.
  15. Tesla Slashes Prices

I am surprised they didn't shave another $2k off the Model Y Performance. It would be a pretty tempting proposition at $47,500 after tax credit.
  16. Tesla Slashes Prices

Tesla are a pain in the rear. I went through the entire solar process and waited seven months before they cancelled the project 48 hours before install date. Just sent a generic email and refunded the deposit.
  17. Used Mach E pricing dropped (Carvana)

Actually that is very close to the expected depreciation on new cars per-pandemic. A 50% drop in the first two years was not uncommon for luxury and higher priced vehicles. Remember in a normal car market you could get 5-10% off MSRP on a new car. Imagine the depreciation if you spent $10k...
  18. Tesla Slashes Prices

They are still over priced, which is really bad news for Ford and the other manufacturers.
  19. 2023 Mach-E priced over $55K & delivered in 2023 will not qualify for tax credit! Latest IRS ruling says Mach-E is a CAR - not SUV !

The electric range of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is 21 miles; 49 mpg is the combined range. An PHEV with a range of around 50 miles would be enough to cover the vast majority of trips driven daily in the US. Personally if the Wrangler did 49 miles I would buy one in a heartbeat.
