OMG - that is why I’m getting 400 miles of range and over 6mi/KWH - they replaced everything with a body lightening kit! ?
  3. 4 Months and $45k repair later - accident update

I think that depends on where you’re looking. For my mileage in my area in the trim the price is still 51-57k (looking on Cars.com). By the same logic, the cost of repairs in my area are likely higher too. I’m happier with it fixed and keeping my financing (pre rate hikes), vs buying used at...

Oh no! Sorry you rejoined the club :( Good luck!
  5. 4 Months and $45k repair later - accident update

Without a doubt it would have been totaled. I’m glad I took it to where I did. They knew how to play the game.

They’re Thule Aero bars. I like them, the range hit seem negligible (without a load). I have on rare occasions, caught my head on the bar getting out of the car. I had meant to take them off in the fall, we really only use them to carry surfboards in the summer.

Good news!!! After almost 4 months to the day, I got the car back in what looks and feels like a new car. 1/27 - Accident. No airbags, low speed crash on some black ice into a wall. 2/2 - initial estimate of 10k 2/8 - initial tear down and first insurance payment 2/23 - full tear down...

Wow, your damage looks very similar to mine. Glad to hear yours went back together! I’m sure mine will too. It’s been 2 months, but honestly, it’s been mostly dealing with insurance. They’ve really been moving now that the parts are in.
  11. $32K worth of damage - update and tear down!

Hahahah….that makes two of us! I’m pretty confident in them. I think the body work will be AOK. I’ll be happily surprised if all the sensors are working on their first go. Something big is unhooked because ford pass shows a powertrain fault along with all the seatbelt warnings, none of which...

As my insurance guy told me, the car is supposed to break like that so you don’t. If they don’t, all that energy has to go somewhere…usually your internal organs. As an update, the insurance company is currently going through the estimate with the body shop. No movement yet this week.

No idea on part timing. Hopefully not too long. I’m just hoping between April and June if it isn’t totaled :(
  20. This is what 32k of damage looks like (Mach-E GT)

Not particularly, at least for where I’m at. I shop quotes every year and they’re all about the same. It WAS about 850 for the year for the GT… I will see how it changes come June. I otherwise never had a claim, ticket, or been in an accident before this…
