Just had my first test drive of a Mach E last Friday. Boy did I enjoy it! On question though; this one had an MSRP of $59K and change, but there was a dealer "market adjustment" of 10K, bringing the total up to 69K+. I thought I had read that dealers are not supposed to be doing that?

Pretty sure I want to wait and order a 2023, but this 22 I drove was exactly what I would order...but definitely won't pay the 10K markup.

Dealers can do it and often will on stock inventory. Some, not all, will do it on an ordered vehicle, so if you decide to wait get the agreed upon price signed by them upfront so there’s no issues down the road

The dealer can ultimately do what ever they want to do. Ford can nag and threaten them but nothing will change that.

In the very beginning, Ford was strongly discouraging markups on the Mach-E regardless of how it was purchased. Then Ford seemingly let up on vehicles sold off the lot but was strongly discouraging markups on customer-initiated orders (whether online or at a dealership). It seems some time around December 2021 Ford threw in the towel completely and told dealers that they can add markup to customer orders - or so my dealership tells me.

Thinking of getting one now? There are still dealerships that will sell off the lot at MSRP, especially if you're in an area where demand for EVs is low. May be worth it to call around. Thinking of custom-ordering? Email or call around to see if dealerships will add markup to those orders. If they say they won't, get it in writing and then place your order.

The dealer I originally was working with always added 10k. When I politely told him to F off it magically dropped to $5k and has been every time one comes in. I still tell him to shove it and I won’t pay a dollar over MSRP. Ordered from a other dealer and will have mine at sticker soon.
