Hour into my first real road trip and I see 136% SOC on the 12v battery. No faults or other messages. Was looking at hv battery temp and caught my eye. Didn’t check again until the first DCFC then displayed normal.

THOUGHTS?

And you haven't been using a 12V battery charger or anything right? Or had a recent 12V battery changeout? That should correct itself after the car is turned off for a while.

Pardon my ignorance, but how did you get that display on your car screen? With some app or adapter?

Good day sir! No 12v charging. Normal home charging to 90% every few days. Charged to 100 % the night before my trip. The high SOC was prior to DCFC. Seams to have corrected itself after the DCFC.

On another note, I’ve never preconditioned the battery prior to fast charging as I don’t use it. But I did test a fast charger to once to see if the battery started to precondition and I did. However, on this trip, it did not precondition. Had to put up with 75 kW charging. The battery temperature was 60°. The rest of the trip I enjoyed a higher charge rate around 115kW with my early 2023 standard range. That was because the battery was already over 80° from driving.

Thoughts? I’m really disappointed that the first time I needed fast charging it didn’t.

Yeah not sure why it would be reading 136%, see if it happens again. The 12V after driving a while should typically be in the range of 85-95%.

FYI hopefully you know this, but the only way to trigger preconditioning is to navigate to the charger with the Ford nav. You should see a charger icon with the miles remaining in the instrument cluster, otherwise it won't work if the icon is a flag. The battery will only heat fully if it's a high-power 100+ kW charger. Also, the battery does not warm up while driving unless you have a 2023.5 vehicle or later.

The first DC charge of the day will warm up the battery, then it will be mostly good for subsequent stops.

Lee,
Doesn’t Google maps do preconditioning also?

Could that be an artifact of the dealer or someone changing the 12v battery and not doing the calibration procedure (press brake 3x etc)?
