I have a 2022 Premium AWD 91kWH, delivered 11/26/22. I have loved the car from that day and every day since. No problems in the 2 years and 7 months and 11,750 miles of ownership (apparently I don’t get out much).

A large part of my satisfaction is due to the valuable information I’ve gotten from the folks on this board.

my Ford Advisor told me the 12V SOC was only 50%. The car also needs to deal with both campaigns 25S65 & 25V404 (powertrain control module & onboard diagnostic software updates) and CSP 24N08 (seat belt buckle). Some of these can be addressed now, but some cannot.

My question is, given the 50% SOC, can I wait any longer to replace the 12V battery to have the work done all at once or should I not take the risk of battery failure and just do it now?

VIN: 3FMTK3SUXNMA55726

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

A 50% SOC doesn't mean your battery has any issue. Has nothing to do with state of health.

Start the vehicle, turn off the shutdown timer, and turn off headlights and HVAC. In 6 hours, turn it off, then contact the advisor again...

To be clear, what Rick is proposing will charge the 12V battery. In normal usage it only charges while the car is running (i.e., the power button is on and not just in accessory mode). So by turning the car on for an extended period, the 12V battery will be charged by the HVB. Note that you'll want the car in a secure location when you do this, though you should be able to lock it using the keypad on the driver door.

If it were me I’d just have the battery changed. Not that expensive and you won’t have to worry about it for 3 more years.

I guess the state of charge on the 12v battery is based on a reading people are taking off the Ford Pass? Your OB2 port has 2 pins in it that are the 12 volt battery voltage directly from the battery. This voltage is what powers the different things that people plug into the port. I monitor my 12 volt battery by it's voltage from that port. The wild guesses that come from tying a percent battery capacity to an actual voltage make me very suspect of what I am seeing with a percent reading. The same goes for the traction battery. I am old.

Currently showing a 65% SOC but a 13.4V reading...those two things don't fit together.

Go out before your next drive and do a BMS learned values reset and then drive around for a half hour or so.

BMS LV Reset:
Without pressing the brake pedal, press the start button to put the vehicle in Accessory mode.

With your foot off the brake, flash the high beams with the stalk 5 times, and then depress and release the brake pedal 3 times, and observe the small red battery icon in the instrument cluster flash three times to acknowledge.

Press the start button to shut the vehicle off.

Start the vehicle and go out for a drive to completely charge the 12V battery up.

Final note:
I should mention that the system does NOT think your battery needs to be replaced. So you should see the SOC come up to at least 80% or higher after doing the BMS reset dance.

The reading of the 14.2 volts on my scangauge goes down to ~12.4volts when the car is turned off & 30 minutes have passed. It drifts from the 14.2volts while driving. I have had the newest 12v software update on my 25 Rally performed.
