Does anyone have any recent tips on improving CarPlay reliability?

I have the latest Sync software version in a Mach-E produced in November 2021 and an iPhone 13 Pro with the latest IOS updates and having issues with consistency with CarPlay.

It used to have about 20% chance of connection when entering the car when connecting wirelessly, so I switched to simply wired carplay (disabling CarPlay via the Bluetooth settings). Now I have about 50% reliability plugging in when entering the car. I also noticed some weird behavior when trying to get Wired to work initially...the phone wouldn't even charge via USB-C or USB-A when plugged in.

This phone works 100% of the time with my Audi and wired CarPlay, although that changes to 50% if I am on the phone when plugging in.

FWIW I have never been able to get PaaK to work.

Did anyone go from low reliability to 100% reliability? Interested in the latest tips.

I just got an update from Apple for my iPhone. It specifically lists CarPlay as a bug fix. iOS 15.2.1. I have good luck with Paak. CarPlay lately hasn’t been so good but was 90-95% good before what ever changed. Hoping the new iOS update fixes the latest issues I have with CarPlay.

Carplay with my iPhone 11 Pro has been pretty good. In the last three months I’ve had to force the connection (on blank CarPlay screen, click the banner on the right, select connect CarPlay) maybe a handful of times and once or twice I’ve had CarPlay flat out not work for the drive. Amazon music does seems to have a few bugs where it doesn’t always do what you want it to do. Overall it works fine.
Can you define PaAk not working? Can’t set it up, can’t unlock car, can’t start car? There’s a lot that fall under “not working”.

Trying to connect Carplay manually in these situations never seems to works...it just keeps trying.

In terms of PaaK, I mean even the initial setup. The app has a link to set it up, but clicking the links shows a few steps describing the feature but it doesn't actually start the setup process to get it going. When I first got the car, there were some setup steps, but it never was able to connect to the car on setup. I tried a bunch of things at that time, including making a manual bluetooth connection in advance, uninstalling/re-installing, etc. But I haven't been able to replicate the setup since. Haven't tried uninstalling/re-installing the app recently if that is what it takes.

I had the same problem. Go to the car and dig through the settings. There should be a reset Paak option. They had me reset something else as well but I can’t remember right now. try just resetting paak.
make sure you have the key fob with you in the vehicle when setting up Paak.
