Help! My 2023 Mach e has been in the dealership shop for 3 months now with a "pre-collision error". They've replaced the camera 4-5 times, replaced the co-axle multiple times, done updates, and most recently put a new windshield on it. None of it has corrected the problem and the dealership has said they still do not know what's going on. They are supposedly working with ford engineering but they are telling the shop to do the same thing over and over again with the same result. I was 1500 miles past the threshold to qualify for a lemon so not sure if a lawsuit is the only way to get a remedy. Has anyone else seen this or experienced this and have any suggestions?

Worse case lawyer up. If the work is being done under warranty, they could do a buy back if persuaded. Ask Ford customer service if they prefer to buy the car back or buy the car back AND pay for your legal fees. I bet they will opt to buy it back (if they have any sense).

Have you tried asking another dealership in your area? They may have seen this before and may have a solution for you. It's worth the phone call. I would call several dealerships to see what they have to say.

If you’ve not already, contact Ford customer service BEV Team (not the dealership), and verify whatever the dealer had told you. If what you’re being told by the dealership is accurate, then yeah, I’d ask for a buy back.

You know the definition of insanity, right?

Ford is in bad need of a regional repair shop for these sorts of situations. Customer, dealership are left holding the bag on problems they have never seen before. Unless they are huge ones they may never see again.

We've been told we can have it transferred to another dealer but they would likely start from the beginning so we've hesitated to delay more but at this point it may have to go this way.

Yes. Our thoughts exactly and we've mentioned this to the shop manger but he says they have to do what ford engineers are telling them which is to replace the same parts over and over again.

We opened a case with the electric customer service dept at Ford early on and they are not much help. The only information they will give us is what we are already getting form the dealership. When we asked if we could have the notes or details from the engineers to confirm what's being done we were told we cannot have that information.

This really should be a recall issue. I get the same error at least once a day--usually when I drive over a small bump in the road. Sometimes I get the fault by being simply stopped, sitting at a light. There is a problem with that front camera/wiring that they can not get right. Oh, and Ford guys, don't bother with the DM route, I'm not going without my car for three months.

Call them again and ask them to start a buy back. Do the same with your dealer. You might want to look into the BBB arbitration service for cars as well, although I’m not sure as its outside of the lemon law limits.

To me this all sounds like someone is hoping you’ll throw up your hands and ask for the car back without it being fixed. Don’t do that.

Interesting to know others are having this too. We were told by the dealer that this is not a known issue but we've seen it on a TSB. Maybe it will eventually get to be a recall but it will be a recall without a fix I'm afraid.
All of my safety features and cruise control stopped working when mine had the error so I didn't want to drive the car with it not working properly.

Thanks of the info. I've started a case with the attorney general and BBB but haven't seen it go anywhere yet. I'm definitely not taking my car back until its fixed. None of my safety features or cruise control work with the error.

Oh no. Sorry you're having a rough time. I'll message you and get some details to see what I can do to help.
