Who even has a straight 50 foot run from their circuit to the site of their wall charger?
mine was about 9 ft straight from the panel to the charger. They wanted to go out to the exterior, run down to the ground, across, then back up and back into the garage. I wanted it run through the drywall and they told me it would cost more out of pocket. They had already told me ford gives them $1500 for the install. Sounded absurd to me that it would cost that much for them to do a 9 foot straight run behind drywall.

Interesting. If they give a flat dollar amount to installers that wouldn't account for differences in labor and material costs around the country.

Edit: Just got a call from the electrician that bid my job. It is as expected. Ford does not have regional pricing and simply allocates a flat amount of money to an electrician which they believe should cover a "standard install". Unfortunately, in high cost areas the amount they allocate in nowhere near sufficient. The bottome line to me is that Ford's Power Promise of a free standard install is false advertising. It's only true in areas where electrician cost is "low". I'll await my second bid to see if it is similar to the first. The first elecctrician was 30 or more miles away (but linked to Qmerit somehow). So dirive time was an issue.

I might have a record for you all ... I just got my Qmerit bit. It included a cost of $940 for permitting (diagrams plus permit plus inspection)! It also contained a line item of over $600 because my less-than 50 feet of run has some right angled bends in it (up the inside of the garage wall, over the ceiling, back down on the other side, then forward to front of car). There is nothing in the list of exclusions that says it excludes anything other than a straight line. Who even has a straight 50 foot run from their circuit to the site of their wall charger? I've requested another bid.
That’s about the same as a plumber charging you extra if you need a bend in your pipe.

These electricians are playing a game to see what charges they can get away with. Qmerit just allows it.

I’m sure there is a non zero number of us (I do know at least another in real life) that have their breaker box in the garage and just put the charger right next to it.

My install was electrician minimum call charge of $200.

I would agree and I contacted the dealership to complain about the Hidden Fees and all I got back from the manager was “ya… I had to pay for mine too, stinks when your sales rep doesn’t tell you.” Also, the more frustrating part is I’ve had my car for 3 weeks now and I haven’t received the code to order my charger even though the vendor was already onsite doing the quote. I’m told that Ford allows a few weeks to pass before allowing the code to be sent out to the customer. I’m blessed to work for at a location with free charging but still frustrated.
