I took my ’23 GTPE to the dealer for its 10k maintenance and mentioned the creaking noise I’d been hearing for the last few thousand miles (similar issues are discussed in this thread. Since the sound was subtle and intermittent, I was worried they’d just tighten a few bolts and send me on my way without a real fix.

I offered to stay and help the technician replicate the noise. After a short wait, the service advisor told me the tech had seen this issue before and knew how to fix it. However, five minutes later, the advisor returned and asked if I could go for a ride-along to help the tech pinpoint the sound, which I did.

After about 30 minutes, they identified the control arm as the culprit. They said they'd replace it (a quick two-hour job) but also wanted to address the LVB safety recall. That required updating all the modules, which takes over six hours. Thankfully, the advisor called a shuttle for me, and I headed home without my Mach-E.

Since it was Friday, the plan was to pick it up on Monday. Monday morning, however, the advisor called to say that while the control arms were replaced, the noise persisted. They decided to replace the strut bushings as well, but the parts weren’t expected until Thursday. I was a bit bummed, but I told them to go ahead. To my surprise, the advisor called the very next day saying the parts arrived early and the car was ready. I picked it up that evening, and the noise was finally gone.

They charge $98 for 10k service and $185 for suspension diagnosis. I think $98 for 10k service is a ripoff since it's basically just a tire rotation. I did not pay anything since I had PMP and bumper to bumper warranty.

I wanted to share this because this was my first rodeo with a Ford dealer. I was nervous after reading so many horror stories about greed and incompetence, but my experience was actually quite decent. I figured I’d share this to help un-skew the anecdotal data on dealerships.

PS: I couldn't believe how much I missed and worried about my pony after spending four days without it!
