Alexa and Ford Streaming

Just had the software updated on my MME and I now have Alexa. Set it all up and it works well on the drive as it is connected to the home wifi. I have a wifi dongle in the car so do I need Ford Streaming service? Should it work from my wifi dongle thing?
Tried it out on the road with the car connected to wifi and it didnt want to play. Got back on the drive and connected to the home wifi and it did. Out of curiosity i switched wifi networks from home to my dongle while Alexa was playing and it still worked.
I suppose it is the same as using your phone as a hotspot wifi connection.
Anyone had any experiences with this?

If you mean a standard usb wifi dongle, its function is to establish a bridge connection to a wifi network. If you are far from known networks it will not work. I suppose the reason why it worked when you switched to your dongle at home is that the dongle itself established a connection with your home wifi.
