Hello, I have a 2021 (dated 7/21) that I bought just over a year ago. To my knowledge, I haven't received any OTA software updates. I did have it at the dealer back in the summer to replace the HVBJB, so unless they did one then, I have never been notified of an update.
Also, when I go to the update page in the car, it has showed the below for the entire time I have had the car.

Has there just not been any updates in the last year? Is my car too old for them? Or are they happening and I am not being told about them?
Either way, is there a way to make this "not completed" alert go away?

I appreciate any insight. I can give my VIN if that would be helpful.

Thanks

My experience with my 2021 having incomplete OTAs occurs for a couple reasons.
a. Your car is not accessing your home WiFi. Make sure your car can connect (if you have home WiFi).
b. Your 12 volt battery charge is too weak to do the OTA. Drive your car for about a half hour to allow your HVB to charge the 12 volt.
c. How strong is your cell phone service in your garage or parking spot? You will see with big OTAs a recommendation to park outside to improve the strength.
Go ahead and click "Update Now". See what happens.

That update is from March 2023. Therefore, your vehicle is about 3 years behind.

It has nothing to do with WiFi service, nor your 12v battery, nor your cell service (assuming you can use your Ford app to do a remote start for example.

Clicking "Update Now" won't do anything as it is not highlighted...

I recommend, assuming you are comfortable doing it, pulling the negative cable off the battery for 20 minutes. After the car fully resets, drive it and then park it. If you don't get an update within a few days, you'll likely have to pay the dealer to get things rolling.

You are right about the first part. I park outside beside my house, so there is a wifi signal plus a cell signal. Plus the "update now" button is grayed out and can't actually be pressed.

Back in July when the HVBJB went bad, I had disconnected the battery for ~30min to see if that would fix it. (It didn't, the HVBJB was the culprit.) Anyway, the battery would have been disconnected then, plus the dealer would have also done that I assume when working on the car.
Sounds like it needs to be fixed by a dealer then? Could someone on here see what is up on Ford's back end?

Yes, some people can, but their access has been limited. @rugedraw, @Mike G, and some others.

Yea. 4.2.2. is old af. "Not completed" means the OTA failed for some reason or another and they will eventually resend it. You can send me the VIN, but there is not much I can do without other than check to see why it failed and verify that your connectivity is working.

Connectivity is working just fine. Battery SoC was reported at 96% to the cloud earlier this morning. Your car is not reporting any codes at this time, and looking through the history of the codes, I see no codes that would lead me to think you car would have any issue being able to received an update if they send one to you. OTA's fail all the time. Sometimes due to low battery SoC and sometimes due to server side issues.

OTA history is stored for 180 days. This means that failed update notice is from over 180 days ago and I am unable to see why it failed. I see you car is on Sync 23031, which means it is probaly and very likely that your car has Sync related updates on hold due to the attached SSM.

Interesting. Am I interpreting this right that I am just out of luck and won't get any updates, or can a dealer fix this?

Also, it is curious to me that you see the battery at 96%. My app is showing 90% (and stopped charging).

Not out of luck.....you just need to wait (like countless other Ford owners) for Ford to fix whatever the reason is for the updates being on hold. You are one of probably tens of thousands of vehicles affected. The dealer cannot do anything about this until Ford addresses the issue first.

I was refering to the 12v battery in the frunk; the high voltage battery is at 90% like you said.

Got it.
And that makes more sense, the 12v.

Thanks for your help!
