Should I strive for an optimal temperature and humidity range in my garage to enhance battery longevity in my MME?

That's not necessary. The car has heating built into the battery packs. As long as you leave it plugged in during cold winter days -- even if it doesn't need to charge -- it will use the power to keep the batteries healthy.

Useful reply, thanks! This is true even if it's plugged into just house current?

is there a good post here or place to read about best practices in a simple, easy to grasp format on how to treat the batteries well?

Above 32F and below 104F is the range where the battery is happiest. If you leave it plugged into L2 power and open the charge schedule and keep the vehicle awake then it will heat or cool the battery on AC power.

If on L1 power and same conditions....it might use both AC power from the house and DC power from the battery pack.

We are hoping for an update to the software that allows battery conditioning outside the charge schedule and while the vehicle is asleep but aren't sure that is even being worked on. Ford hasn't publicly addressed the issue as far as I am aware.

Humidity doesn't matter, but keep the temp below about 105ÂșF if you can. Heat is what kills batteries. Cold won't cause damage, it will just work slower.

Something I learned on this forum is “ABC”—always be charging. Once you’ve done your first charge at a location (home, for example) or are even in the middle of doing it, you can then tell your MME to charge only to 90% “here,” where ever that might be. (Ford recommends 90% for daily use, but if you’re going to drive it a lot the next day, you’re going on a road trip, or you know you’re not going to let it sit at 100% for a while after charging, feel free to charge it to 100%.)

If you leave it plugged in, it won’t charge past the percentage you set, but it WILL run the cooling and heating to keep the batteries happy automatically. It will also do preconditioning of the cabin for chilly or hot mornings as well using the house current if you leave it plugged in. (It can do the same using the car’s batteries, but it’s kind of defeating the point then.)

So, get home, set it to 90%, and plug in. Leave it until you drive out. It won’t overcharge, and you’ll keep the batteries happiest. If you need to go to 100%, use the button in the FordPass app to charge to 100% that time.

To expand just a little on @SnBGC L1 AC power is 110-120V~, L2 AC power is 220-230V~.
