When this happens you can just reboot the Sync software by holding the volume down and next button on the steering wheel for 5-10 seconds. Reboots it quickly and starts right up. Has done this to me too, but this does the trick if it happens and your screen is fine.

Just to share out experience with this as well, we've owned our MME-DT for a month exactly and had this happen to us twice. It will completely freeze, GPS/Radio/Climate controls, etc all UNUSABLE. Thankfully the car still continues to drive normal. Then after a few minutes it reboots and becomes usable again.

Of course, as it's booting up it appears you should be able to use it but it's still loading - I work in IT on the hardware-side and this drives me nuts. I will NEVER understand why SW developers make a system appear ready for user input before it actually is. All that does is cause frustration - if I got a wait, just tell me!!! Remember the old hourglass to tell you to wait? How is it instead better to eliminate the hourglass and make it appear it's ready - but it's not!?

The screen going blank is a known issue and can be rectified by software update (I was told by my dealer) I had it numerous times on my sync screen up to getting 1.7.1 installed OTA, now it’s been fine.

After having bi-weekly screen glitches, at some point I guess the dealer updated all the modules and it hasn't visibly 'snow'd out' for a while.

Since the updates, one time I got a 'it's gonna crash again' but instead, it flipped a second, went black, and came back on. Not a 'normal' reboot of the screen, it just went black and came back.


Now I only get bi-weekly random 'Audio Off' errors. Using USB/SiriusXM doesn't matter. Driving along, not touching/talking just the steering wheel, and silence... Push the center button and it comes back.
