My 20 months old 22select motor coolant was about an inch about the min mark and the battery coolant in the middle of max and min. So I decided to top both off. Got a gallon of yellow motorcraft anti freeze from a ford dealership.

But the manual calls for VC-13DL-G, I though DL stranded for pre diluted so I mixed it with equal amount of purified water then added it to both coolant reservoirs. To my surprise the added coolant look greenish compared with the stock one in the reservoirs. Did I add the wrong thing?
Here is how they look in the reservoir. The top layer is the new coolant, it looks greener than the bottom layer which is the stock one

What are you doing tinkering in there!? Do you take your MME to the Ford Dealer for regular service intervals?

Motorcraft Yellow coolant is kinda strange, it can look either green or yellow depending on the dilution, pH, and how much air is entrained. What you see there is normal, I've seen the same thing.

You used the right coolant. It's a highlighter yellow when new but fades to a more pale color as it ages.

Has anyone in the Uk bought any Ford WSS-M97B57-A2 antifreeze as recommended in the owners manual which is yellow / green colour ? Ford dealers seem to only stock the A1 antifreeze which is the orange colour and not compatible with the yellow antifreeze. There is plenty of the A2 for sale in the USA

I really suggest that you use the recommended VC-13DL-G (DL stands for diluted) antifreeze / coolant. The VC-13-G product is "concentrated", meaning it has not yet been mixed (diluted) with any water. You need to mix this VC-13-G with NON-IONIZED water, or you will lose the non-conductive properties of this coolant. If you dilute this with any other kind of water, you will have conductive coolant swimming around your high-voltage battery packs, inverters, etc!

If you use VC-13DL-G, it already has been diluted with the proper amount of non-ionized water, so you don't have to worry about it being conductive.

My resource for this is:

This is Weber State University. They train techs to work on EVs.

De-ionized / Distilled water is readily available. No big deal to mix and save money by buying the concentrate.

The yellow-green color comes from Fluoresceine. The dye is extremely common as it is relatively non-toxic, breaks down into pretty harmless compounds, is absurdly cheap, and has a fluorescence near the peak sensitivity of our eyes. As a result, you will see it used everywhere.

It's big drawbacks are that it photobleaches (stops fluorescing upon sustained exposure to light) and the color can shift based on the solvent, the pH, temperature, and pretty much every other chemical factor you can think of.

Source: Chemist who has made loads of fluoresceine conjugates.
