Driver display error?

Yeah its certainly meant to be a distance indicator. It does turn red sometimes when I get close to a car in front. I think it's showing a blue block instead of some other graphic.

The little blue-yellow/orange-red block doesn't bother me. If another vehicle is in front of yours, the color indicates a "safe stopping distance" depending on your speed. The MME is a pretty "smart" vehicle with many sensors and safety features. That's why I got the Premium trim.
