So I've been trying to search through the forum for good information. Sometimes the gems of information are buried pretty deep into the threads. I'm planning a 240 mile trip in my 2022 GT. I'm wondering if the hive mind has suggestions for ways to maximize driving efficiency. Seems like I have a good chance of making the trip on one charge, but it could be close. As an aside, I just did a 142 mile trip this week (admittedly driving a bit more aggressively) and was left at 40%. Based on my calculation of battery drainage that would result in a 240 mile range to zero percent. So that barely gets me exactly for this weekend's trip, but that seems dumb to simply bank on.

Obviously using one-pedal driving will maximize regen.
Minimizing use of climate control A/C.
I plan to do most of the drive in BlueCruise and cruise control.
I have also seen on the forum that there is some debate about drive mode, but perhaps gentle acceleration on Unbridled could be the most efficient due to increased regen.

Any other suggestions???

Some of them are counter-intuitive, but these help efficiency:
  1. There is little/no difference between 1-pedal driving and regular 2-pedal driving. The computer in the MME blends the regenerative braking with the friction braking. Moderate braking is done entirely regeneratively. As a result, the friction brakes are hardly ever used with 'normal' driving, whether with 1-pedal or default mode. Teslas are the only EVs that do not have blended braking.
Regen is only maximized by smooth braking. The accelerator pedal is a little harder to control than the brake pedal. Unless you have a very steady right foot, 1-pedal driving is often slightly less economical.
  2. The AC does not use that much energy: Between 500 Watt and 1000Watt. It is not worth sweating in the heat for. The e-heater does use a lot of energy. So turn e-heat off and use seat heater in cold mornings.
  3. Cruise control is a good idea because it makes for smoother driving, also on local roads.
The main way to save energy is to drive slower on the highway. The difference between 65MPH and 75MPH is a whopping 18% more usage per mile.
  4. Smooth and slow driving is the key to maximum range. For that reason, whisper mode is the one to use, and unbridled is better avoided. Regen gets less efficient with harder braking, so the Unbridled mode is not a good idea. If needed the increased regen from Unbridled can also be achieved by gently pressing the brake pedal in whisper mode.
  5. Pump up your tires to a higher PSI. Do not carry unnecessary weight.

I'm taking a similar trip this weekend, about 250 miles. Interstate speeds in Idaho are 80 so its hard to drive slower than 75 without being a traffic jam. So my efficiency will be low, last smaller trip I was about 2.4 miles/kwh. That and lack few charging stations here make it a challenge.

Question I have is what is the suggested PSI for traveling? That is probably the only thing I can really affect on my journey.

Just to follow up. I made the two trips. Each was 240 miles. I made it up in a single charge. Depleted the battery until the GOM was a 10miles. I realize it’s not good for the battery but it was late and my kids were in the car. So the usage was just over 3 mi/kWh. I’m by myself on the return trip so I stopped to give her some juice to try to keep out of the last 10% on the way home
