Noticed my IOS Ford Pass no longer needs to be open to gain entry or start the car.
I still get a message that FP works better if it is left running but this change is saving my battery.
Noticed this on the current version 5.8.0 and the previous version too.
When did this happen?

Unsure if you're referencing iOS or Android here, but for iOS:

The behavior technically has never changed here. The background technology works off of iBeacon technology (you can verify this yourself with an iBeacon scanning app or something else) that has the same rules for BLE that any application using BLE/DeviceManager/etc interfaces would.

iOS is responsible for opening up the application in the background when closed when detecting an iBeacon. If you force kill the application, iOS itself will no longer wake up the application as the user has explicitly force killed the application.

Apple did recently release _new_ APIs for CoreBluetooth stuff (and location manager) and it's very possible there were some improvements there as general iOS updates (API and OS) go.

Just a tidbit for you.

Yes IOS, Noticed earlier in the year that if I didn't have the app open I couldn't open the door.
Now I can get in and start the car even when I quit the app before. It must be running in the background for some functions.

I noticed that my Mach-E stopped working as an iBeacon almost exactly one month after I got it. I don't have an iOS device, but was using the beacon for presence detection of my vehicle. This was very useful, and I'd love to have that re-enabled, any idea how I can get it broadcasting again?
