The DC Fast Charging specs are in line with the MME, NACS, packaging and price, and the size looks perfect. Google Automotive for infotainment

If I were buying today, knowing what I know after a year of EV ownership , this or the bolt would be top of my list.

I know everyone tells you this, but until you live it, you don’t know it. But you don’t need the super fast charging speeds. Most of us don’t go on the great American road trip. We drive around town and do a one-stop road trip to grandma’s. And the ā€œcheapā€ EVs are getting to a place where, as a second car for families, they are perfect.

The trade offs are all in the black on the balance sheet, especially now that the price and the packaging makes sense.

I love that the Leaf, the OG affordable EV, the one that disrupts from below instead coming down market, is having a moment.

Interesting with both the NACS plug for dcfc (150kW max) and non-Tesla plug for level #2 charging. Don't know the usable capacity out if the 75kWh battery pack.

My MME Select (LFP) is 72KWh. It consistently estimates 230-240 miles. I've never had it on any longer trips, but even the longest around town driving (well over 100 miles) I've not dipped below 50% charge. It may never see a longish roadtrip, but there's strategically positioned charging in every direction from Vegas so I'm good to go if I decide to. Range anxiety notwithstanding.

The Leaf and Bolt were candidates when I got the MME, but the lease deal on the MME beat out everything at the time. The MME also wins on acceleration and 'fun' factor, though I was getting it more for the price and any performance benefits were secondary considerations as they likely will be for any remaining EV buyers in the market.

I would imagine Ford's bigger picture plans included smaller EVs but with the market softening significantly, they've indicated everything's gotten moved well into the future (and they'll be switching to their new architecture so that will also delay new models being designed/released).

I'm glad to see other manufacturers keep pushing forward. EVs in the USA are in for a tough road, at least for the next few years, but the rest of the world is going to keep pushing forward (albeit with some ebbs and flows, I'd guess). I personally don't care much for the looks of the new Leaf - though compared to the first gen, it's a beauty queen! I am very interested in what Ford rolls out on their new platform. If it is indeed a Maverick-sized EV and priced right, they will sell a lot of them.

in 2015 Leaf was my first entry into the EV world. After that I owned 4 more Leafs. Great cars for local travel. The only issue was battery degradation due to no active battery cooling.

My first Leaf couldn’t make it the 100 miles home from the dealership and required a 2 hour charge at an L2 charger to make it home.

I have since owned 4 Teslas and 2 Lightnings. We are down to 2 Model Y Junipers and a Lightning Platinum. I don’t miss having to go to a gas station.
