The dealer replaced the 12V battery. What a bear that must have been to do! Today I popped off the 3 trim pieces. Some of the little clips popped out of their sockets. I'm missing one, but maybe that's one the dealer lost. Other than rain gasketing, I'm not sure if there's any reason to put the trim pieces back. I also don't anticipate ever filling the ice tub with beer, but that looks like at least 10 bolts to remove. Did the dealer have to remove the ice tub to replace the battery? At least the brace between the strut towers, I think, and then a tight fit. Any other kindred thoughts on this?

I also popped off the little access cover in the front bumper (easier than I expected) and found the fused red & black frunk release wires. Closed the frunk and put 12 volts on the wires, but nothing happened. Checked the 2 fuses and they're OK. I checked resistance between red & black. About 100K in one direction and 170K, ohmmeter leads reversed. That's too high to draw any significant current that I would expect a release to need. Any similar stories?

If I press the frunk emergency child release button, a high pitched "motor" sounds twice. I was thinking that might also be the red & black wire release mechanism also, but maybe not. Tried it with MME On. An alarm message says Emergency Frunk Release Activated. If this happens while you're going 60, does the frunk lid fly open and throw your kid under the bus?

You can’t test the emergency Frunk release with a charged battery. The system is designed to pop the Frunk open only if the 12v is dead or below a rather low value.

Interesting. Might be safe to try by disconnecting one battery lead. Might reset some parameters, but since the dealer essentially did that yesterday, maybe my params are all reset anyway.
