Interior lights all-off dark setting needed

While watching the recent Northern Nights display in Canada, I had to deal with the nuisance that other people here have also written about. There is no way to fully switch off the interior lights. Cars from 1970's could do it. How was this ability lost?

Not only do the screens glow, but there are persistent lamps glowing from the dash, ceiling, and doors.

It's also not possible to disable the white interior lamps on door-open, blasting my eyes and ruining my night sight.

I still can't get over that switching off all interior lamps was easy 50 years ago but that technology is lost to the before-times now.

But you CAN do this. It’s one of the four buttons on the ceiling, above the center screen.

Turn off the car, open and close the doors and a few minutes later all the lights will go off.

I thought that button only disabled the *rear* lamps. Does it do all lamps? Going to need to try it.

Do you know about calm screen? Press and hold volume button. Or click calm screen in drive mode setting screen.

Also you can turn down the dash lights with the buttons next to the headlight switch.

Disables interior lights. You need to open and close a front door after turning the car off to get the screens to shut down sooner. The exterior parking lights will still come on if anybody opens or closes a door.

I have to laugh because the last northern lights event I took the mme with my wife and we parked in a dark lot with several other cars. I didn't know about the button but thought the easiest thing would be to just turn the car off. So I did that. Turned the car off and then I made the mistake of getting out to take a picture while my wife sat in the car. You guessed it. Pitch black lot, people enjoying the sky when the car alarm started blaring and flashing. Me fumbling for my fob to turn it off while everyone stared. Quite embarassing, don't try that.

I've slept in my Powerboost F150 a few times.
Much like an EV, it can provide a comfortable cabin for the occupant while not running an ICE.
Sync4 can be completely dark in the truck, but I still have to put a dark cloth across the IPC.
