In NHTSA side crash safety ratings the Mustang Mach-e gets 5 stars (and a IIHS Top Safety Pick + Award) while the Wrangler only gets 3 stars for side crash. You (we) are far better off in a Mach-e. There is lots of safety information on the web for you to use in researching a safe replacement for your Mustang. Based on what little I just researched, you are probably lucky you were in your Mach-e.

I was going to make the same comment on the 5 star side crash rating of the Mach E as a big reason this unfortunate accident was not worse. It also provides proof of the high rating. The side crush zone on any vehicle is minimal making side impact reinforcement, side and head side air bag deployment with seat belts critical to protect the occupants. Not sure if I missed it, but did you say what type of vehicle ran the stop sign and hit you? Hopefully they were equally protected by a front air bag deployment.

The MME does well in the testing, but moving up in size can help, three row SUVs and trucks are generally safer. The IIHS tests and reports on vehicle safety, might be good to browse their data when you start shopping.

Keep in mind the scoring is based on size categories, the the very best rating for a small car does not mean it's best overall, just compared to other small cars, a large truck with a lessor rating can be safer than a small car with the best rating.
Great advice, thank you.

A CRV is probably in the 3600 to 3800 lb range depending on year and model. I would imagine the front end of that car was severly damaged running into your roughly 1000 lb heavier Mach E that probably gave lots of resistance being pushed sideways. Fortunately you had side airbags protection even though it sounds like you have some injuries . I hope the CRV protected the other driver. Take care.

I’m really injured and when it happened smoke filled the interior of my vehicle so I’m coughing still I guess it’s in my lungs. Air bags deployed arms hurt, back, neck and chest plus a bruise on my stomach. Didn’t expect my afternoon to go like that.
Insurance payouts may be substantively impacted if you can prove that you went to see a doctor--if your visit copay is affordable I'd have your doc check you out asap.

Serious T-bones are often fatal.
For educational purposes only, and to stress the severity of T-bone type accidents:

In 1991 I was the passenger in a 1984 Subaru wagon. It was the first snow of the season in northern Idaho. Snow was visible on the shoulders and untraveled center line, and as we drove along it was just starting to 'stick' in the travel lanes. As we entered a long, sweeping turn on the highway an oncoming car suddenly veered into our lane turning sideways. We collided at what was probably 50 mph with the nose of our car impacting the passenger door. Both occupants were killed outright. We both survived with injuries that today would be minor with the benefit of airbags.

@justinj: side impacts, where your body is thrust violently sideways, can injure a body in ways unique to that force. I add my voice to the others and implore you to seek medical evaluation quickly, as in GO NOW!

Thank you and yes the airbags definitely did save my life.

Based on the pain after the accident most likely not. I want something that’ll hold up better probably a jeep wrangler because the pain is unbearable.
The newer Wranglers are safer than the older ones, but I don’t think they’re that safe compared to their competition. Anyone more knowledgeable about Wranglers care to chime in?

I thought the wrangles was safer because it’s an off road vehicle that’s interesting.
It’s a very old design. Updated, yes, but maybe not enough.

I think they’re more likely to roll over in a t bone crash.
