OBD reader to check the HvB state of health. I used an OBDLink MX+ with CarScanner app. It has dashboards for the MME. Keep scrolling and it will show up on this screen (bottom right). There is a poll with battery health so you can decide what works for you.
1) Confirm the first owner wasn’t @heisnuts
2) Use the VIN to look up the build date, if before June 2022 the car likely has the inferior HVJB design that is prone to failure. This would not be a deal breaker for me, but I would use it as a negotiating point.
3) check battery health as mentioned above
4) normal checks for damage, tire wear, brakes, etc.
5) hopefully get a great deal and love the car!
