Not sure when or which update or settings but on my wife's '22 MME, it no longer has Wireless connection option. Only can use the USB connection now. My '21 MME still has that option. Any ideas?

Wireless CarPlay requires two connections: WiFi and Bluetooth. Make sure both are active in the car and on the phone. Also try a Sync reboot (volume down and next track buttons on the right side of the steering wheel). Failing those, delete the phone from the car and try establishing a new connection with the phone. ??

Wireless CarPlay issues can be related to either Sync or the iPhone itself...and sometimes both. In my experience issues happen on long drives (where it runs for hours) or when doing lots of short drives (power the car on/off in a short period of time).

Assuming Wireless CarPlay was working previously, that "CarPlay doesn't work, use the USB cable message" sometimes appears. That said, actually using the USB cable will actually make things worse....even through it might work for a short time.

Two solutions:
- reboot sync
- reboot the phone (sometimes turning WIFI off/on can help as Wireless CarPlay runs over WIFI)

Rebooting sync while driving is easier - hold the vol down, and prev channel button on the steering wheel for up to 10 secs. Sync will restart, the Ford logo will appear, and you can attempt to reconnect your phone (if you end up in Bezel Diagnostics, use the other channel button). Rebooting sync does not loose your settings.

The last time I did a 1600km road trip, I had to reboot sync and my iPhone about 4-5 times. Things have been a bit better after an OTA update.

I have had the same problem for about a year, and I have never been able to figure it out. Even switching from an iPhone 12 pro to a 14 Pro didn’t solve the problem. I deleted the Bluetooth connection from my phone. I deleted the FordPass app and it still didn’t work.

So for the last year I’ve been using my USB cable and CarPlay has worked fine that way. I just got home from the dealership and even after a master reset, wireless CarPlay is still not working. I was about to open a case with Ford sync and I read this thread.

After reading your thread, I checked the wireless app projection connection on on my iPhone.

The connection was there, and the car would connect to it, but wireless CarPlay still wold not work. I went into the settings for the Wi-Fi connection for the wireless app projection on my iPhone, and realized that auto join was switching to OFF. Even after I set it to ON and closed it. When I re-opened it it was set to OFF. So I deleted the connection off of my iPhone turn CarPlay on, and when the Proxxxxxxx connection came up, I re-joined it, and made sure auto join was sent to ON. EUREKA!

So far it looks like wireless CarPlay once again works on my Mach-e.

sounds like I might have had an odd case, but thanks for all the ideas and getting wireless CarPlay back.
