my GPS antenna needed to be replaced and ever since then, wireless android auto disconnects randomly between 2-5 minutes. sometimes can reconnect after 1 minute, sometimes needs reboot of SYNC to reconnect. i have tried my wife's android phone and it also disconnects so it's definitely the car. same phones worked fine before the whole GPS situation (i.e. we did not change phones)

i just gave up on wireless android auto and started using wired android auto, assumed something was wrong with the antenna when they replaced gps antenna

however i happened to try wireless carplay today for a conference call, stayed connected for >30 minutes. any guesses why?

I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but I've noticed with my phone (Galaxy S21 ultra) if I'm using my phone (like touching the phone screen to respond to MS Teams messages for instance) I have intermittent disconnecting Android Auto.

If I don't touch my phone, android auto stays connected.

It's almost a safety feature ?

I can't speak to Apples performance in my car.

Hello! Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer. I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this concern. Thanks!

Did you have any luck with this?

Mine had been solid for 2 months (outside of some issues initially connecting to BT on some calls). Starting a couple weeks ago, it now will disconnect every 5-10min, and then reconnect automatically after 20-30 seconds on its own. No pattern, happens when on calls, listening to music, or just Google maps. Phone is not on battery saver and I have all optimization off for android auto in my phone.

no i'm almost certain it's a car hardware issue, as it arose only after the dealer repaired a previous issue with the GPS antennae

i'm not eager to go and try to get this fixed. while annoying, wireless AA also had its downsides. i happen to have used wireless carplay for ~45 minutes the other day and that actually was fine, not sure if luck or the hardware is different

I've had my GTPE in for "Phone as a key" issue. Along with Android Auto and charging pad heating up the phone to the point of it shutting off. The reset at the dealership didn't resolve the issue. Ford Customer Service acknowledged that the car is the issue. But they still are unable to fix it. Android auto is 50/50 on connectivity. Works perfectly on my Chevy Silverado, so I don't believe it's a phone issue.

Ugh that stinks. It's just odd it worked fine for 2 months. Had me wondering if an update broke it vs a hardware failure.

Hi there. Can you send us a DM with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into this for you.
