Can you guys share your experiences with getting collision work done? I’d appreciate it, trying to make an insurance claim to total the vehicle due to wait times on parts.

Well, I'm no insurance agent but I wouldn't expect wait times to result in totaling the vehicle.

~11 months ago my 5 month old MME was a hit & run victim (2x in <12 hours) in a condo parking lot. Damage to both driver side doors. Fortunately for me the damage did not prevent me from open/closing doors and driving the car. took 6-8 weeks for doors to arrive to dealer. As dealer worked some more parts would need to be ordered (twice, I think). They had my MME for about 6 weeks IIRC. Also fortunate I had a pvt loaner available to me so no need to haggle with dealer or agency on reimbursements- just pay for some gas and quickly readjust to 6-speed manual from 1-pedal.

Overall, my agency came thru for me and processed the claim through uninsured motorist pool, and also provided me diminished value (car was practically new, and also agency presumably tapped the uninsured pool).

The dealer experience... meh. Don't get me started.
